My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
In college, my roommate (and dear, dear friend) often had underclassmen come up to him and say of me, "Ooh... he's so dark and brooding- what's his deal?" To this my roommate would simply laugh.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Interesting section. Saturn has returned on my ass and sent my life spiraling off the path I had set it on. And I don't even believe in that stuff. Oh well, time to start anew. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears. I was thinking of becoming a fireman. Or going back to school to learn how to spell and then start teaching undergrads. Probably not how to spell. You know, other things. If I were a teacher, I think I'd insist on all my students calling me professor, just to be obnoxious. Maybe the teacher thing's a bad idea. I tend to abuse power. I guess what I'm trying to say is if you're looking for someone who has it all figured out, don't stop now.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Filling out profiles, clearly. I'm good at sticking with my friends. I'm also a pretty good uncle. 5 nephews from 3 siblings. Nary a girl between them. And all with brown eyes. Genetics are awe inspiring.
The first things people usually notice about me

Oh, probably that brooding crap. I appear pretty stand-offish at first glance. If you look a little harder, you'd probably realize I'm just shy. And extremely goofy. On-line, people probably think I'm neurotic. Again, not so. I'm actually pretty laid back. It's just that writing, for some reason, channels my inner Woody Allen. And my inner sailor. I cuss a great deal when I write. Actually, I cuss too much in real life as well. Never mind that last statement. My delete key seems to be broken.

I really dig Steinbeck and Maugham. I'm trying to get back to some of the classics I slacked on in high school. I hated reading it at the time, but something about Jude the Obscure has stuck with me.

Movies: Peter Weir and Fincher are a couple heroes of mine. I have a soft spot for Spielberg and Eastwood films. Also, if you like psychological thrillers, I highly recommend the Pledge.

Shows: Justified is about my only bent right now, but I've enjoyed the Shield, the Wire, Arrested Development. My sister and I bond over terrible reality TV and ice cream pretty regularly.

Music: This is a big one. Love the Dodos. They get their own sentence fragment as a matter of fact. Walkmen, Cave Singers, Horse Feathers, Menomena (if you don't know them, you should), gotta love Tool from the 90s, Dan Auerbach, Mr. Waits, Mr. Cohen. The list goes on. Music is one of those topics that really requires a conversation.

Food: I'm not a huge foodie. I spend very little time thinking about eating. I am on a constant mission to find the world's greatest hamburger, however. The winner up to this point is at Honest John's in mid-town Detroit.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family (friends included), my Martin, listening music, the sky, the wind, I'm having trouble thinking of a sixth.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Beats me. I can't seem to stop. Makes it hard to boil down.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
As I do not work a regular 9 to 5, the day of the week is pretty much irrelevant. It just depends on who's available and if I have to work that particular Friday. But as a general rule, when I go out it's usually with a couple of friends and we just bounce quandaries about life off of each other over pool or drinks or dinner or what have you.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
When I run out of floss, it's sometimes weeks before I remember to pick some up. Out right now, as a matter of fact. Shhhh... Don't tell the ADA. Does the tooth fairy still visit if you're over the age of 12?

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You understand the true nature of altruism but still toy with achieving it anyhow. You embody and/or value sweetness. This is a very under appreciated quality in my book. Or you simply have fun anecdotes about childish things. Or you have a good joke you'd like to share! Bonus if you like to talk basketball. I'd pretty much crawl over broken glass for a woman who can tell me what team Taj Gibson plays for.

If you were born August 5 (particularly, but not exclusively: 1981) you should message me immediately.
