My self-summary
I'm not a real doctor. Nor am I an ape. For the unfamiliar, Dr. Zaius refers to an anthropomorphic ape, from the Planet of the Apes films. That kinda says a lot right there. I do like tacos, however. My favorite are from the San Loco on 2nd Ave.

I talk, I write, I think, and I make noise. Usually in more volume or intensity than some are used to. From a very early age the words "why" and "why not" were among my favorites, and they still are.

I often find myself on the other end of a point. I've said at times I'm not much of a joiner, nor a proselytizer, and this sometimes does me no favors when dealing with social conservatives.

What I’m doing with my life
I enjoy reading, writing, listening to music, trying to see live music as often as I can with folks, cooking, and a little tv here and there. I enjoy the outdoors, camping, hiking, urban wanderings and people watching. Not so much with the sports, however.

I have a plan to someday make a plan that includes visiting Iceland.

I am also fully prepared for the eventuality of a zombie outbreak or robot uprising.

I’m really good at
Trying to maintain my Spock meets Alan Cumming-like demeanor at all costs.

Accumulating books on Amazon that get added to the pile, yet said pile grows faster than does my reading speed.

Downloading useless internet ephemera that get added to a digital pile much like the aforementioned pile.

Playing the bass.

Wrangling ornery computers back into the pen.

Observing and listening to folks. I'm a great judge of character and I often see details of personality or relation others do not. Kinda like The Shadow, without a cool mask. Listening is a bit of a double edged sword, it engages my INFJ tendencies when I can help untangle a troubling situation, yet can be frustrating when people do not take my INTP informed advice. Yeah, I test as both of those, depending on the phase of the moon I suppose. I find that sort of thing fascinating.

The first things people usually notice about me
I'm pretty tall, and I've been told I have nice eyes. I kind of prefer the left one, personally. The right one, it owes me money. The bastard.

I'm on and off with the beard, in case this is some kind of dealbreaker with you, as I've heard tell of it. It seems the beard is much the love/hate item for most Women. I'm quite mercurial when it comes to things like this.

I'm often found in groups either saying very little, nodding and observing, or talking up a storm. I tend not to be middling with much of anything.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
No lists. I'm into culture, politics, science fiction and horror, music and sounds of just about any genre, poetry coming out of the Black Mountain school and its offshoots, fortean silliness, a lot of post WWII art that gets labelled postmodern. As for food, I am into cooking and good eating but don't think of myself as a foodie. I am a newly-forged adventurous eater and burgeoning cook, who'll eat just about anything. Always looking to increase the palate.

A detailed list of music I'm currently listening to can be found by pasting the following bits into the Innertube browsah of your choice:

The six things I could never do without
There's not too much I couldn't do without. I'm not very attached to material bits. People, I suppose. And books, perhaps. I know, it sounds a little precious, but it's true.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

On a typical Friday night I am
Doing something utterly fascinating! Seriously. Just accompany me if you doubt it.

Sometimes I am seen trying to convince friends of mine to give up old habits in favor of the new and untried.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think I saw a ghost once, long ago; and I've been wondering if I'll ever see another.

I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 30-40
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
Message me if you want to. I've found the wandering road of relationships (romantic and otherwise) to have no map and no logic to it whatsoever. I say roll the bones and see what happens. Even if the result isn't what you expect, if you are the type who has expectations, the result will still likely be memorable.
