I am always smiling, far too optimistic, and huggable.
My Self-Summary
Who was the first man to milk a cow, and what in God's name did he
think he was doing?!
Yes, I'm very poor at opening up these paragraphs too. But it's the
best ice breaker I could come up with. Otherwise I'd offer a hug,
but that sounds even more suspect here than it does in real life.
So read on and get to know me first, then you can choose to accept
that hug or not. :-)
My name is Rob anyhow, and it's been ages since I last updated my
profile so bear with me whilst the other sections magically appear
in no particular order. I'm currently living in northside Dublin,
and that probably won't change in the foreseeable future. I mean
come on, there's a twenty-four hour Tesco just down the road, what
possible reason could anyone have to leave such convenience? I'm
22, am the proud owner of a very large Budda bag and work as a
manager in Xtravision. If your think that's a lousy job well then
sod off, I get free rentals. Although I will admit to staying there
in the meantime for a lack of a more obvious option. Hopefully
that'll change sooner rather than later.
What I’m doing with my life
That's a very good question, the answer to which you probably have
a better idea of than I do. I finished a degree in arts with a join
major of art history/geography in 2007, after which I spent a year
working menial hours in Dunnes. I recently attempted a diploma in
IT but it didn't end well. Long story short, it was a rather hasty
and ill advised decision on my part and I've since dropped out of
the course. Being honest with myself, I have never been and will
never be a mathematically minded person, so when I did look at the
course and decide to take it I based the decision largely on the
practicality of the subject in today's working world, not so much
on the question as to whether or not I'd be able to actually do the
course. So, for now I'm just working my way up with Xtravision to
earn xtramoney (it had to be done, I'm sorry...). Beyond that, I'll
just have to try and discover my niche.
I’m really good at
Ah, hmm. Well in the past I've been told writing, drawing, playing
the clarinet... Amongst other things. I never did quite believe
them though. But lets just assume they were right, and I'm
therefore quite the talent. In reality, the best thing I do is
retain an abrasive sense of optimism no matter how bad the
situation. Had you already guessed? I'm well aware it can annoy
some people, but I also like to think that it cheers an equal few
up when they need it.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile, I always make sure to put it on in the morning. I mean
you never know who you're going to meet! Also the fact that I might
be hugging them, I'm an inveritable hug strumpet. Some people
understandably don't dig it, but I find that nine out of ten will
react well to them so nothing you can say will stop me from doing
it. I also have supposedly nice hair and eyes, but everybody says
that. Don't they?
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books... Hmm, well I loved Les Miserables, and the Gormenghast
trilogy was brilliant also. Sadly, I've let myself go a bit where
not reading is concerned so it feels like a decade since I last
picked a good one up. I blame college, they done made me adverse to
our leather bound, papery chums!
I have over three hundred films, so I'm not going to choose one!
But I do love film itself, hence my collection. It's extremely
eclectic, but I have a wide range of most everything there. Some
good, some bad. Half of the time I can be extremely critical of
certain films, the other half I'll just turn a blind eye to any
flaws. In a nutshell, I like what I like. The one problem is that I
will argue to the death in favour of any film I do like, but
thankfully I seldom meet people who don't have a similar taste to
mine. Only in work, and work is where I bite my tongue.
My favourite band is
DeVotchKa, although I have been known
to dabble in
Sigur Rós and
Bright Eyes from time to time.
My tastes are pretty varied here too, anything will do so long as
it isn't generic pop/Rn'B. Alternate country I'm quite enjoying at
the moment, and country music in general has a very meaty charm I
find.
As for food, I used to have this obsession with Campbell's cream of
tomato soup... Never again though, I took that one to some pretty
serious extremes. I quite like Asian cuisine, particularly Japanese
and Indian. That said though, I'm touring restaurants as we speak
so most anything'll do so long as it's wholseome and tasty.
The six things I could never do without
My friends, family, enough cash to survive the week, my laptop (her
name's Kerrigan!), my hands and... *drumroll* Ah, what the hey,
I'll say
LOLcats,
just because they can cheer me up no matter how bad the day has
been.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
People, my friends really. I give headspace to everyone readily, in
fact that would probably explain a lot about why I seem to move
with perpetual clumsiness. Clearly it's everyone else's fault, not
my own. The only problem there is that you should dedicate a
certain amount of thought to yourself I'm told, but I never seem
able to do that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working, usually. Xtravision and its mother corporation are cruel
task masters!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
That I'll admit private things to anyone who'll message me. The
results should be interesting...
You should message me if
You've gotten this far, you're already halfway toward knowing me
after all. Really, I'd like to chat with you. Yes, you. Believe it
or not, people are generally great. The more you know, the better.
So message me, even if you weren't planning to. We may end up being
very good and understanding friends! That's a possibility I never
ignore, and neither should you.
