My self-summary
This profile is quite old. While I have tried to keep it up to date, many of the questions were answered in the distant past, and my answers may have changed. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

I am a geek. I get really into a couple of things, and learn as much as I can about them. Such hobbies trend toward those things which were considered unpopular in high school, such that the popular kids would make fun of me for it if life were a sitcom and they didn't have better things to do with their time.

If you are curious about any specifics, feel free to ask.

I am quixotic, pedantic, and Lawful Good.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a rocket scientist by education, cubical dweller by occupation, and game designer by hobby.
I’m really good at
Scrabble? Various games that don't involve physical activity, really.

I can break down a system to analyze trends and learn how to manipulate them to maximize my results. I once "beat" one of those dumb Facebook games by buying and selling the right items until I got to the top of the leader-board. I have completed two more such games, to the point where no more progress could be made. All of this, of course, without spending any real money for those silly in-game purchases.

In case you're curious, the amount of time required to beat any of these games requires dedication well past when the game stopped being fun, until a few short months before the game is going to be cancelled.

I'm not good at taking things as seriously as they are presented; I tend to take serious things comically, and silly things very seriously.

I am also pretty decent at keeping to a budget and keeping my credit card paid off.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm kind of fat, though not to quite the extent as I used to be. I'm average as far as Americans are concerned. It's really more about health than anything else, but I hate being serious so I'm going to move on here.

My spelling and grammar seem as though I've spent a modicum of effort on them. I use big words.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books The Tortall series, by Tamora Pierce; The Belgariad by David Eddings; Ciaphas Cain (HERO OF THE IMPERIUM); Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality

Currently, I'm reading Godel, Escher, Bach. It's not as straightforward as Harry made it sound.

Movies Back to the Future, Princess Bride, Groundhog Day
Shows Mythbusters, Tenchi Muyo!, Tsukikage Ran
Music Weird Al, mostly; TMBG; video game soundtracks
Food Carne Asada Fries; PB&AB (similar to PB&J, but replace the Jelly with Apple Butter)
Games Zelda, Final Fantasy, Capcom vs SNK 2; 3.5, Shadowrun
The six things I could never do without
1-2) Public transit
3-6) Internet access
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not I will live until the Methuselarity, or Transhumanism in general.

The nature of realities, both real and fictional, and continuity.

How Squirrel Girl would beat Superman without relying on kryptonite. My guess is "off-panel", but I would enjoy seeing otherwise.
On a typical Friday night I am
As of current, I'll probably be playing video games of some sort, or else working on my writing. I can foresee a future where dice rolling will take place on Friday nights.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't drive, I don't have a license, and I think it's kind of weird that everyone sees driving as a normal thing; rather, I choose to live near where I will need to go. This may or may not be influenced by the number of accidents I've witnessed, or the number of friends I've lost to car accidents.

I have considered getting a scooter, on the grounds that the worst that could possibly happen is my own death, which is infinitely more bearable than the thought of killing anyone else.

Or if that's not private enough for you (it being immediately observable to any bystander), here's another:

Subconsciously, I don't consider myself to be a feminist because I find it hard to truly believe that anyone is actually against equality.
I’m looking for

You should message me if
...you think you can beat me at Scrabble.

...you want to play a game with me, be it Risk, Smash, Parsec, or anything in between.

...you want someone to teach you D&D.

... you want to try and guess my favorite Zelda game. (Hint: It's a trick question.)

...you want to. I value the time of others at least as highly as my own, so you need not worry about my not responding.
