My self-summary
Hey there, I'm John: self proclaimed romantic, amateur chef, and dog trainer extraordinaire. When I'm not around Porter training for a Tough Mudder next year (a lofty goal for sure, but it keeps me motivated) I can be found out in the bars of Boston, either being a bit nerdy and playing some board games with a beer or schooling some people in pool. If you think you're up to snuff, well... we'll just have to see about that.

I've been having a great time in Boston, and it's been a lot of fun, but I'm definitely looking for someone to share some of those awesome moments with. I love going out and DOING things in Boston; playing some bowling at Jillian's, eating out in the North end, or seeing a comedy show somewhere are all great ways to spend a night. I am, however a HUGE proponent of the cozy dates though; dog watching out on the common, a picnic by the Esplanade, or just a night where I cook us a home cooked meal while we watch a great movie are all things I love doing.

So just who am I looking for exactly? Well, someone who wants to date a mean cook who can throw a fun party when he wants to. Someone who loves animals (and preferably isn't allergic) and loves both the great outdoors and the cozy nights in. Most importantly, someone who's looking for a man who is loyal, genuine, and interested in something more than just a series of hookups because the romantic in me just won't quit out.
What I’m doing with my life
At the moment working for a small security start up and seeing where it goes. Ideally I'd like to start working at a college/university doing counseling and using my knowledge in Psychology, or getting my doctorate and opening up a private practice.
I’m really good at
Making people laugh
Reading people and being able to tell if they're lying, so don't even try it.
Listening/talking since, ya know, the whole Psychology thing
Cooking (getting the hang of it slowly)
Making the most out of life.
Training animals (My family dog back home knows how to give high fives!)

Oh, and Super Smash Bros., any of them really. If you own a Nintendo and think you can beat me in a game I'd love to prove you wrong (I'm always looking for a good challenge!)
The first things people usually notice about me
Tends to be my eyes, my voice, or my humor, depending on the scenario. I've also recently been told my accent is quite fun to listen to.

Either that or my dog back home who doesn't seem to grasp the notion that strangers can be dangerous and that she's too fat to run away if they are.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So many categories. Let's see:

Movies: Dodgeball, Anchorman, District 9, Watchmen, 300, Gladiator, The Other Guys, Superbad, and the Dark Knight movies.

TV: Simpsons, Family Guy, Walking Dead, How I Met your Mother, American Dad, Tosh.0, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Futurama, Game of Thrones, Arrested Development, Boondocks, Scrubs, Archer, Firefly, and too many more to name.

Food: Loves me some red meat, burgers, steak, etc. A good pasta dish is great from time to time, as is chicken. Pizza is always awesome. I am actively trying to expand my diet though, so if you have interesting ideas for things I can try I'm all ears. Definitely trying to improve my cooking skills as well (I make a mean chicken parm now though) so any interesting recipes are welcome too.

Books: Most classical stuff, Lord of the Rings, The Divine Comedy, and an interesting book about psychology is always welcome. And as soon as this current season of Game of Thrones ends I'll be able to finish those up (I don't want to spoil anything for myself.)
The six things I could never do without
Great friends
My Family
A video game with a great story
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Cornering a niche market in psychology and becoming a pro at it.

What new, cool tricks I want to learn how to teach my dogs back home.

What new thing do I want to learn about next and can share with the world.

Today's topic: It's been a while since I answered most of these questions here... maybe I should look over those again?
On a typical Friday night I am
Most likely getting out into Boston with some good friends, drinking some craft beer that my friend makes, and enjoying a relaxing bar trip. I've been described as a do-er, someone who likes to actually DO stuff instead of just sitting at a bar. Darts, pool, bowling, activities of all sorts. You name it, I want to do it!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My favorite dance song of all time has to be... the Space Jam Theme song.

Oh, and I really want to become a pet detective, which is a REAL volunteer position at the MSPCA here in Boston.
