My Self-Summary
I'm from the East Coast. Yes. You can tell the minute I start to talk. No, not because of the accent (which I don't have) but evidently there's an attitude. I never noticed but my local friends laugh about it enough that it's worth mentioning.
I am an urbanite (sometimes a suburbanite -- depends on the suburb) but am finding the hills in the city something I will have to get used to. Hiking? Biking? Kayaking? Uhm... maybe. There is tons of beauty in nature, don't get me wrong, but there's something really beautiful about the urban jungle.
I'm an omnivore... I think I might be one of a dozen in this area. I don't quite like trail mix and don't have a pair of sandals of any kind. Well, wait, strappy sandals with a heel don't count so ... no.. I don't have sandals. *grin*
Sarcasm doesn't translate very well through the written medium -- I get that...
What I’m doing with my life
I'm trying really hard to keep the East-Coaster within from coming out in all social situations but really, it has to be ok to flip someone off on I-405 when that person is driving 10 miles under the speed limit and there's no one in front of them for about 5 miles.. I'm sure I read that in my handy-dandy "You're from the East Coast but moving to WA" Rule Book.
I work for a non-profit organization that just really rocks... It's a great non-profit and I'm surprised that we aren't in every major city across the nation just rocking everyone's world... Eventually I'd like to go back to school but I'm not quite sure for what.
Right now, though, I'm thinking I'll go back for my Ed.D. I'm beginning to realize that all the world's problems have one thing in common: lack of education. Educate the masses and you can change the world.
For the time being, I'm trying to figure out why everyone told me that it rains 9 months out of the year in the PNW but it's really more of a mist that covers the entire region for a few months when the weather has bounced back from its schizophrenic dance of "Rain during Sunshiny days" *blergh*
I'm definitely going to explore Mt. Rainier... I'm told it's an actual mountain ... *grin*
I'm on the lifelong search for friends and people to go out with. I'm perfectly happy with my boyfriend but having moved to a new place lends to the challenge of befriending new people. I'm pretty open-minded and love intellectual challenges, be they through debate, conversation, sudoku or reading books of new interest.
I’m really good at
I'm really good at being a friend. I love going out and spending time shooting pool. I love dancing, of any kind. Overall, I enjoy having a good time, laughing with friends, having a couple of drinks and engaging in great conversation.
I have a small long haired mini-dachshund who goes almost everywhere with me, not in a co-dependent kind of way.
The first things people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love reading history books, non-fiction, fiction, sci-fi, biography... if it's a good read, it's in my "To Read" list.
(b) same thing ... i'm a dvd collector and have some series as well.. CSI: Las Vegas ... I like anime, horror, dramas, action, psych thrillers, comedy ... not big on chick flicks and would rather watch 100 cars get blown up in a movie than hear the words "You complete me" ...
(c) Any metallica, system of a down, NIN, tori amos, sarah mclachlan, nina simone, bb king, anything from the 80's and 90's, pearl jam before they tried saving the world, U2 before Bono thought he was Pope, techno/trance ... Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Vivaldi... used to be a huge e-tard but the scene changed down here and it's not as fun as it used to be.
(d) foods... omg ... Yes, I love food. So, yes please :)
The six things I could never do without
2. My mom
3. Books
4. Good coffee and a milk frother
5. Intimacy -- spiritual, emotional, physical, mental
6. A good comforter
... Definitely not in that order though
I spend a lot of time thinking about
trying to figure out why there's a Seattle Freeze ... don't deny it, you know it's true..
And.. what exactly is Gonzo? Kermit's a frog.. Miss Piggy's well.. obvious... Fozzy is a bear.. wtf is Gonzo??
On a typical Friday night I am
Other times I'm sipping wine, eating a good meal and relaxing on the couch ... or doing laundry and cleaning the apartment ... depends on the weekends I guess ...
So now that in a new area, I'm guessing my Friday nights are going to be spent:
1) learning the area and what there is to do here
2) finding new friends
3) finding a new rock climbing place
4) exploring the areas to take my mind off the places back home I miss the most...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
-- you don't mind going out with friends to do whatever and spend the whole weekend doing just that...
-- you like going for drives, chatting or just hanging out at the local hole in the wall bar.
-- you like being intellectually stimulated while also being flirted with outrageously.
I'm only looking for friends. Yeah yeah yeah, I'm sure you're disappointed :P
