My self-summary
I am probably nicer and more comfortable with women than any man on the planet. Of course this is a pox on my dating life, as what woman doesn't prefer stone cold ignorance and/or psychodrama from people they're attracted to? :-) ~~of course if this is not the case, you might like me! And if it is, yes ok, i'll be your best friend, i'm listening, tell me all about it, you'll love me.

Hi, I'm Michael. I'm passionate about film, and trying to make my way as a screenwriter. I chose film-making because it brings together all the things I love in the one art form - literature photography painting poetry music all mashed together!

I want to meet like-minded souls - friendly funny wild creative inspirational weird sarcastic emotional beautiful-hearted people so we can take on the world together.

I've been a happy vegetarian for 9 years, minding my own business doing it while the meat-eaters go into rants and speeches like they're personally offended by someone who doesn't eat meat. Anyway, I still can't resist jelly babies!

Growing up in Ireland has obviously made me a complete anti-religious atheist leftie, as it does for all intelligent people. No offence to so-called pro-lifers out there, but i do wish you'd fuck off and die so we could move a woman's rights over her own body at least a little closer to where they should be :-)

I am artistic-minded, sarcastic, and adorably sweet.
What I’m doing with my life
I used to do lots of filmcrew/stagecrew stuff, but decided I was better to learn my trade in just screenwriting. I organise a writing group. Hopefully a couple of the film and web series projects I've been working on for people this year will be shooting soon.

Photography is my other main passion, and I'm looking forward to doing some more behind the scenes film set shoots.
I’m really good at
Being the one friend you can rely on for anything, especially talking you down off the bridge. Hoping you're not in need of that though!! :)
The first things people usually notice about me
One of the first things people notice about me is I am bald. This is because of a large sign i wear round my neck at all times stating that fact. I am not morbidly sorrowful about this. I just have to remember that when i did have hair, it was a combination frizzy afro / mullet. On top of that obvious baldness, or rather - below it, I am also pretty funny. If you don't want to reveal all your secrets though, maybe steer clear, as it won't take you long with how friendly and sarky and responsive I am, to let it all out.

And also because I keep hearing it so it must be true - that I'm much younger in spirit than my actual age. Artistic spirit not being thoroughly crushed by the brutalities of life yet, I guess :-)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Love anything that inspires my own writing.

For books, mostly poetry collections (Anne Sexton - I've written an "inspired by" film about her, Ted Hughes, Sylvia Plath, Dorothy Parker, Milton), film books, artist books. I slowly make my way through 20 books at the same time. I cut up a shiny silver Christmas Card to make the lovely bookmarks necessary for doing that! :-)

Indie and foreign films from David Lynch, Pedro Almodovar, Charlie Kaufman, Gus Van Sant, Woody Allen, Richard Linklater, and 100 more directors I won't name.

And the music I love usually comes from punk/alternative or american indie, and a lot of screaming rock goddesses (Hole, Sleater-Kinney, The Distillers, L7, Queen Adreena, Kim Gordon, The Muffs, Le Tigre).

Also like real quiet stuff like Cat Power, Will Oldham, Nick Drake, Beth Orton, Mazzy Star, Nico, Joanna Newsom and Tori Amos.

And all the usual boy bands - Nirvana, Radiohead, The Pixies, The Smiths, The Clash, Sex Pistols, REM.

Food: is easy.. anything veggie i can throw together in a pasta, curry, wrap. Chinese or Govinda's when I'm out. Though a greasy bag of chips is fine with me, and a bit of an addiction when I catch the scent! A friend once summed up my eating habits perfectly with a fridge magnet - "Life is Short, Eat Dessert First". I do!! Can't resist my sweet tooth :)

Now some lists of things from my facebook or myspace.. fun fun fun :)

~films that are wild at heart and individualistic
I spend a lot of time thinking about
where i want to live in the world.. my ever-growing list of feature film scripts that are needing to be made now.. but mostly, beautiful sweethearted creative girls.
On a typical Friday night I am
skinny dipping if i get an invite.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
There was a time when I thought I could turn girls gay just by being interested in them. Turns out they were that way inclined before I got to them. Just my type of gal, I think :-P
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–38
  • Located anywhere
  • For new friends, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're looking for sparks and sweetness and a flirty sense of humour.

Also if you're looking for a relentlessly entertaining and loyal friend, I have to say I'm perfect for that :-) Too perfect in fact. That's why I'm on a dating site :-P But new friends are great and exciting and very welcome.

If you prefer morbidness, i can always write you some deathly poetry as well. I have depth, ya know. All bases covered!

The name Driftwood Doll is from one of my film scripts, meaning someone to cling to in a sea of troubles, and I guess that's one of my better traits too - as a confidante full of passionate positive energy.. and ripping sarcasm counts as positivity in my book :-)

also message me if.. you're quirky, sarcastic, arty, you dress funny, you've ever shaved any part of your head, you randomly dye your hair shocking colours when the mood takes you, you're a frustrated writer/artist wanting inspiration and wondering where all the passion has gone, you're trying to resist getting sucked into the ordinary world, Morrissey is your secret hero.. haha.. that's ok for a girl, for a guy it's just sad. So, any of those things and more :)
