I am aberrant, bona fide, and obstinate.
My Self-Summary
Just when I thought I was out, OKCupid pulled me right back in! One
can never have too many online profiles with their personal
information showcased for the whole world to see. I double dog dare
someone to steal my identity!
Let's see here. My name is Paul and I try to keep things simple. It
doesn't always work that way, but it's the effort that counts. I'm
pretty close with my family and have some kickass friends that
somehow still want me around.
When I was a chubby little bastard of 2 or 3 I was diagnosed with a
form of muscular dystrophy, meaning that I was cursed to travel the
earth by means other than my feet. It's a quirk more than a
hindrance and has probably factored into making me the peach of a
person that I am today.
What I’m doing with my life
When I'm not saving elderly people from burning buildings or
retrieving cats from very tall trees I'm trying very poorly to
become a worthwhile writer.
I’m really good at
...being humble about what I'm good at. Was that in itself
boastful?
The first things people usually notice about me
After they tear their eyes away from my devilishly good looks they
probably notice that I am in a wheelchair - actually one of those
three wheel dealies. Mine is pretty happenin' actually...well, as
happenin' as those things get. A ride can be arranged if you book
in advance.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Because they all blend into each other over time, here are few of
my recent favorites:
Books: Of Human Bondage by Maugham, Mother Night by Vonnegut,
Master and Margarita by Mikhail something or other, Born Standing
Up by Steve Martin, Devil in the White City, Gun Seller by Hugh
Laurie, and very secretly the Dresden books by Jim Butcher. I tend
to read a lot. I mean, a lot.
Music - it takes all sorts with me. Recently additions to my iPod
are A-HA's greatest hits, Best of The Alarm, Delta Spirit, The
Bambi Molesters, and Morrissey's newest one. A few of my favorites
- The Raveonettes, The White Stripes, Dusty Springfield, Social D,
Tears for Fears, and Sam Cooke.
Movies - I had a Netflix subscription and I'm running out of movies
to pick from. What does that tell you? I'd have to say Wes Anderson
is my favorite director, followed closely by James Cameron. My
favorite movie by far is Boner Jamz XXVII.
Food - On the 7th day God, if there is one, created margherita
pizza.
The six things I could never do without
Besides the stock answers -
Wireless internet.
Rain every once in a while.
Warm summer nights.
Iced tea.
Clean boxer shorts.
Basil leaves.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
You, in particular.
On a typical Friday night I am
Seeing a flick, enjoying the warm nights in Denver, watching all
the crazies, going out to dinner at places besides McDonalds and
Chili's, blazing through a book, watching a rental, or sometimes,
perhaps even more often than not, not a damn thing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I ripped the tags off my mattress and I almost cried at the end of
Billy Elliot, almost.
You should message me if
You can guarantee me that we are magical soul mates and literal
sparks will fly when we meet for the first time.
