My self-summary
I'm not very good at self summaries. Every time I write one I come back a few months later, look at it, and ask myself what on earth was I thinking. Then I click the edit button and stare at the blank self-summary section and then give up and hit cancel.
But here goes an attempt:
I'm currently in a relationship with a guy I met on here, so I'm not looking for any romance, but I would love to make more friends.
I'm a few weeks shy of getting the piece of paper saying all my decades of schooling was for something, with a Bachelors in History. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to get a degree in, since I kinda suck at decision making, but I'm getting better.
I love museums and parks, history, art, nature, anything. I love tours (giving and receiving, ooooh yeah). I'm hoping to at least find a good museum to give volunteer tours, since I really miss it.
I also really like movies, but it depends on the movie. I like bad/cheesy horror. I love dark comedy. I enjoy a good, well written, and not overly formulaic/massively tear-jerking drama, I require my drama to be sincere.
There are a lot more things I'm into, and I'm open to a lot of adventures, so if you're looking for someone to hang out with, try out a restaurant with, go to a museum with, whatever, hit me up!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm on my last semester of attending HSU to get my degree in history. My goal is to graduate next spring and start looking for jobs in the National Parks, Historic Sites, or Museums. In June I will be moving to Portland-ish. Eventually I may make my way toward Seattle. Maybe I'll relocate after that, maybe I won't. I hope to get a job giving tours and making informational displays, but for now I'm a cashier and java jerk (I make coffee drinks, I'm just not artisan enough for the barista title, I can't make the foam for a cappuccino to save my life, my apologies to all the lady students with the hijabs, I get anxious when I see you and I'm the one making the coffee for that reason, not that you'll be reading this, but yeah). I would like to announce that TODAY (10/16/12), I managed to foam enough milk for my cappucchino to be a cappucchino, hijab ladies, you are welcome. However, sad to say, that day was a fluke (10/23). But I'm getting better!! (2/2/13) I am now getting complements on my foam. SUCCESS!! (3/15/13)
I’m really good at
I also do stained glass as a hobby, I can put together a pretty beautiful window at the expense of my fingertips. I'm fantastic at the cash register, I even count back change as I should. I give awesome tours, in my own victorian garb, including corset. Try walking and talking in one of those suckers for one hour tours-- talent (nah, it's just something you have to work on consistently, but driving in a corset and/or putting one on all by yourself is some mighty talent-- that I have).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm kinda shy when it comes to approaching people, but my conversational abilities are set to the laws of inertia, and I love to make people laugh, and I love people who make me laugh.
Like everyone it seems (unless they are really tall) I don't know exactly what it is that people notice first about me.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books
Etgar Keret Amanda Filipacchi Douglas Adams Sarah Vowell Howard Zinn David McCullough Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk Alice in Wonderland Lemony Snicket (yes, I love a few children's books. I also like Harry Potter) I like a lot of books, I'm just too lazy to list them all, so I'm mostly going with the authors that I have the most of.

Movies
Marx Brothers classic films Muppets documentaries cheesy horror/sci fi Galaxy Quest Girls will be Girls Hank & Mike Labyrinth Dark Crystal Fido Studio Ghibli weird indie comedies Singin' in the Rain O Brother Where Art Thou Fargo Death to Smoochy Eagle Vs. Shark Harold and Maude Wristcutters Pixar Perfume: Story of a Murderer Alice in Wonderland (seriously, every version) Clerks Ghost Town Elvira The Last Unicorn Clue Rocky Horror Picture Show Some Like it Hot Hedwig and the Angry Inch Fifth Element Bronson John Waters and I'm starting to get into Big Lebowski but I'm not at the quoting level that some of my friends are. I also dabble in Star Trek and was a massive Star Wars geek in high school. Years ago I would have said that Star Wars was better, but in my age I recognize that Star Trek is more socially redeeming.

TV
Doctor Who Arrested Development Daily Show Colbert Report Jim Henson's Dinosaurs Rupaul's Drag Race Fraggle Rock Sunrise Earth Flight of the Conchords when I'm feeling stressed I tend to pop in Northern Exposure to relax to (seriously, don't ask me why, I just do it. And yes, I know they got pretty weird after a while, but at least it didn't get as bad as Seaquest. Seriously, if a 10-year-old can recognize that a show has gone to shit, it has **GONE** to **SHIT**).

Music
The Residents Florence + the Machine Slim Cessna's Auto Club Scissor Sisters Tom Waits David Bowie Divine Voodoo Organist Nick Cave Tori Amos Cibo Matto Handsome Family Rasputina Dion and the Belmonts for horrible cheesy reasons

Food
Beer. I also love Mexican, Italian, and Vietnamese food. I also like Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Mongolian, Ethiopian, potatoes, soups...
I love having an excuse and time to throw together something made on Titli's Busy Kitchen. Titli is awesome.
The six things I could never do without
My cat (Mab), a pen, paper, my truck (or some other form of shelter), good friends, and good beer.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Not being in school. Moving. Fantasizing about getting to read a book for fun.
On a typical Friday night I am
Getting my study on, or crashing from not getting enough sleep during the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I seriously cannot stop saying damnit. I recently learned that it was one of my first words. No lie.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 27–37
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners
You should message me if
You want to hang out, get to know me, or anything. Need someone to rant over Doctor Who, history, or any common interests we share, I'm there. If you know of an amazing place in the Portland area that I must know about. If you're not gonna hate me because I'm from California (I get it. California sucks. Why do you think I'm moving?). If you think we could be friends, besties, frenimies, or nemesis, I'm always up for getting to know new people.
