My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a feisty, friendly fellow and as energetic as it gets. I like life to be action-packed and I take the necessary steps to ensure that mine is. I enjoy politics, raving, economics, music, philosophy, science, reading, taekwondo, good beer and, most of all, people.

Say hi! I enjoy conversation. Just please don't be upset if my response takes a while. I'm not a regular.

*NOTE* My lifestyle does not fit well within the confines of a traditional relationship and so I'm not looking for one. I'm already happily married to my work. :) Casual flirting, new friends, random outings, or interesting discussions certainly still welcome though.

Of interest to some - I am both divorced and asexual.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write things - mostly music journalism, blogging for business or my personal blogging on politics and economics, public relations and marketing copy, and promotional writing. I have written short form, long form, Twitter form, and drunken rant form. Check my blog at if you like.

Musically, I perform regularly in venues around the world as DJ Dynamic, and I am one of the core members and original founders of Nocturnal Commissions, a promotion company and record label that is known in the rave community for innovation, high energy, and ridiculousness.

I'm an avid NDP volunteer and sit on the executive committee for my riding. Lately I've been volunteering for Olivia Chow as well.

I am very heavily involved in the push for a guaranteed minimum income - if you are interested in helping out with this, PLEASE contact me or go directly to the campaign website ( I view this as the critical economic battle of our time.

There are a lot of things that we can improve as a society but youth homelessness is the issue nearest to my heart, so my volunteering and donations are directed largely to organizations that address that issue.

I travel a LOT, both for DJing and just for the joy of it.

I'm semi-active with the fetish community, even though I am a giant wuss and don't like pain. The people are just too cool to miss out on though. Message me for my fetlife account if that's your thing. I do not do sex; it turns out that's important to a lot of people, so let's get that out of the way right now.

Career-wise, I am self-employed to accommodate monetization of whatever projects I may be pursuing at a given time. Basically, I've turned my hobbies into jobbies (don't hate me for that line, I couldn't resist).

I aim for joy, peace, and compassion, not necessarily in that order.

Despite this aim, I thrive on intellectual debate and I will derive great pleasure from arguing with you sometimes. If you do not like sarcasm or feisty verbal sparring, you should let me know so I can calibrate my responses accordingly.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Adaptation. A life spent out of place has taught me to feel right at home quickly. I'm comfortable in just about any situation.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books - "Dragons of Eden" by Carl Sagan, "Night's Dawn" trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton, "The Stuff of Thought" by Stephen Pinker, anything by Isaac Asimov, anything about economics, history, and politics.

Shows - "Party Down" and "Community." "Gurren Lagann" and "Avatar: Last Airbender" were amazing, for you anime folks. I haven't watched too much TV in general, but those shows I completed.

Movies - In A World...,The Princess Pride, Super Troopers, The Matrix, Boondock Saints, Memento, probably several others that I can't recall.

Music - Happy Hardcore, of course, and electro, and trance, and some DnB, and hardcore breaks, and breakbeat hardcore... if it's something you'd hear at a rave, I'm likely down for it. I also enjoy listening to the really smart politically motivated hip-hop that doesn't seem to be as common as it used to be, and anything with lots of joy and energy (ska, Irish festival music, well done punk, and so on).

Blogs - Yglesias on Vox,,,

Games - Kingsburg, Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Civilization, and League of Legends, though I don't have much time for gaming these days.

Food - I don't eat animals but don't mind if other people do, although I will admit it grosses me out a bit. My diet has slowly evolved into a decently constructed set of healthy options and primarily revolves around pasta, fruits, bread, and eggs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The people around me. Politics and social justice. Economics. Business. Music. Art. Where the hell I put (whatever it is I need right now). My friends and family. Public transit. Tickling. My to-do list. Plans and how to achieve them. Peace.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either about to leave for another city, or out and about Toronto, which is the best city of all. As I get closer to retiring from DJing next year, I'm starting to replace the weekend raves with political activism and community engagement.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Privacy is dead. I don't hide a thing, and neither should you. You have nothing to be ashamed of. :)

You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You should message me if you want to talk with me or have a question (or answer) for me about anything. I love to chat.

You are also certainly welcome to message me if you'd like to meet up. I love meeting people, too. I don't do "dating" though; if you want to meet up, invite me to join you wherever you're going or ask to come along on one of my adventures. I'm much more interested in trying something that you're into, or sharing something I'm into, than picking some neutral restaurant or movie that's meaningless to both of us. I mean if restaurants ARE what you're into, that's totally fine, it's just that many people default to "let's get dinner" or "how about some coffee" when what they mean is "I want to learn more about you and need an excuse." I'm just making it clear that you don't need an excuse. Just dive right in.
