My self-summary
Hiya.

My name is Edward. I moved here to Southeast Connecticut last February for work. I am sort of a man without a "hometown" having lived in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and recently before the Navy, Chicago.

I am enjoying the area so far making regular treks to Boston, and New York to visit friends.

I am convinced that I am at least part Canadian because
A) I thrive in Winter
B) I love hockey (Go Blackhawks!)
C) I currently receive Government Run Healthcare
D) My first beer was a Molson..

Or at least that is my idea of what makes up a Canadian. I don't really know anyone from up there.

Some Randoms:

I have a tattoo of the Chicago Lighthouse on my left arm.

I am an ISFJ on the Myers Briggs test.

I was named after Edward James Olmos because back in 1984, my parents watched way too much Miami Vice. However, he went on to do Stand and Deliver, Battlestar Galactica, and a season of Dexter so it's all good.

Though I love the Winter months, I do set aside time to visit family in Arizona in December.
What I’m doing with my life
Fire Technician in the Navy on board submarines.

I'm also looking to go back to school at the same time with an interest in Economics, or International Affairs where I would hope to work in the State Department after I'm finished with military service. Either that or open some breweries.
I’m really good at
Finding my way around new cities. Ive mastered the L in Chicago, MTA in New York, and working on the T in Boston.

Getting lost in a good book.

Sticking to goals I set out for myself.

Getting Adele's Skyfall stuck in my head
The first things people usually notice about me
Very quiet at first but I open up over time. I love get togethers and being in large crowds but after a while I need some quiet time at home to recharge. I often consider buying a cabin in the country somewhere where I can get away from things and maybe fix up a classic car or something.

I've been told by a random lady who came up to me at work a couple years back that in the right light and if you squint just right, I look like a fat Bruno Mars.

I've also been told I look younger than I am.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Shows: Parks and Rec, Dexter, The Walking Dead, Mad Men, Downton Abbey if they would stop killing everyone off, Sons of Anarchy, Sherlock on BBC, Homeland, and Boardwalk Empire among others. Ron Swanson of Parks and Rec is pretty much my favorite TV character of all time. Right now I'm really into House of Cards on Netflix.

Ernest Hemingway is my favorite author. Carl Sandburg poetry. I'm currently reading Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World that Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain which I believe was written about me.

I love classic movies. Frank Capra and Alfred Hitchcock films specifically. Mr Smith Goes to Washington, It's a Wonderful Life, North by Northwest, Vertigo. Silent Charlie Chaplin. I also love John Candy films such as Only the Lonely and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, also Navy theme movies such as Crimson Tide. You can thank Denzel for me being in the service.

Favorite Music? I love 90s Hip Hop, Mumford and Sons, West Coast Jazz (See Dave Brubeck, Vince Guaraldi), Silverstein, A Day to Remember, Chicago Blues, Metal. You name I probably listen to it.

I love Italian, Polish (Paczki Day!), Greek and Irish foods. I can cook a pretty decent breakfast, and various Mexican and French dishes by cookbook. I adore pistachios and pita chips with a tomato hummus dip for comfort food. I watch a lot of Jacques Pepin on Youtube.
The six things I could never do without
My family and friends are not things, they are people so my list includes:

My Nook. Although I prefer to hold an actual book, I need my Nook to hold more stories to read during deployments.

Smartphone: Keep in touch with family and friends

The Amtrak Rail System: So efficient in the Northeast. I left my truck in Chicago so this is basically the only way for me to travel around here at the moment.

Hockey: Although I never played, I grew up around the sport because my father worked for a couple of NHL teams. I'm a horrible ice skater.

A Lint Roller: To look presentable for work.

Coffee: I can't go a day without it. Thank you Dunkin Donuts
I spend a lot of time thinking about
About the future and where I would like to settle down. I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles but who knows what curve balls life will throw my way.

How I can better start conversations without coming off as an awkward creeper.

Where the closest BBQ joint is?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix. Exercising, Studying, Watching a Hockey Game, Catching up on Sleep or On Duty.

However the perfect night would be a few close friends and I having a dinner party/ movie night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
A Few:

I've probably seen every episode of Gilmore Girls. That's what happens when you have a couple of sisters.

I have never seen an episode of Game of Thrones

I did just see the new Star Trek movie just today

I wanted to be James Bond when I grew up.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 22–31
  • Located anywhere
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
If you just want to chat about anything. Even if just to meet new friends and you live far away. I'm not the greatest conversationalist, but I do my best to keep things interesting. I certainly don't mean to put anyone off.

If you'd like to catch a hockey game sometime.
