I'm a Christian granny. I'm always online, reading, or exploring with friends. I picked up hammers for my dulcimer in Mongolia, did a mission trip to China, and spearheaded a fund-raiser for Mercy Ships do provide potable water for a village in Africa. I've actually had a reason to say, "Yuck! Now I have a hand all full of tigersnot!"

I am responsible, odd, and affectionate

I just returned from my my fourth teaching stint in Korea, with a focus on preschool. I'm settling back in with a new job -- providing behavioral support to children -- and a new car. Hoping to resume EMS volunteer work and maybe some other community activities. Would love to take ballroom dance classes and meet other bad musicians to jam with.

The hardest part of adjusting to life in The Land of Corn-Free Pizza is not being exotic any more. In Korea, strangers would strike up conversations or ask me to join them for ddok and soju. Shopping for molassas was an adventure. It was a major accomplishment to pick up the phone and order pizza. The ordinariness of everyday life leaves me hungry for a little excitement.

I'm good at finding the humor in any situation.

People comment on my eyes, my smile, and my vocabulary. My Korean teachers also think I'm very funny, but they may be easily amused.

Favorite books: anything by P.J. O'Rourke, Jane Austin, Douglas Adams, or C. S. Lewis. I also love the Barbara Hambly vampire novels, T.R. Pearson's Neely Trilogy, and A Confederacy of Dunces. Favorite movies: Awakenings, Oscar, Alive, Mystery Men, The Emperor's New Groove, and pretty much anything with Johnny Depp. Favorite music: Rich Mullins, The Alan Parsons Project, Weird Al, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles. Foods: German, Thai, Italian, Pennsylvania Dutch, Indian, Greek, Chinese, Korean

My family, my laptop, my books, my freedom... What else is there?

I think about how to balance my life -- my love of travel, my current teaching career, and my desire to be with my family. Trying to figure out where God is leading me next. It'd be nice if I could see further than the tops of my boots.

Reading, doing a project around the house, listening to music, or surfing the net.

My favorite pets have included a mouse, a quail, and a snake.
