Fun Fact 1: Back when I was in graduate school in Illinois (a few
years ago), a relatively unknown, strange-looking, charismatic
fellow came to give a speech one afternoon. After hearing the
speech and getting a chance to talk to him for 10 minutes
afterward, I was blown away by how magnetic his speaking style,
personality, and knowledge were as a political candidate (and I
have the photos to prove I met him). So blown away, in fact, that I
called my grandmother and half-joked that he was going to be
President of the United States in the not-too-distant future. Then
I voted for him to be the next U.S. Senator from Illinois. In case
you haven’t guessed, that man was Barak Obama. (I knew him back
when!)
-----
I’m a 26 year-old attorney, who works in the public-interest
sector. I recently finished law school in Illinois, and moved down
to the area to take what I consider to be a fantastic and
fulfilling job. I'm looking for someone who has a good head on
their shoulders and knows what they want in life.
Beyond that, though, I would really like to meet someone who can
hold their own in a conversation about anything from recent current
events to the big football game to the political system in general.
I am pretty darn liberal myself, but I don’t think anyone who
disagrees with me is automatically the scum of the earth (I leave
that to FOX news) – in fact, I could really learn to love a
spirited conversation every now and then.
-----
Fun Fact 2: My uncle once beat Arnold Palmer in a one-hole playoff.
At Pebble Beach. On national TV. No joke.
-----
I’m also really into sports. I’ll attempt to follow just about any
“mainstream” sport (except for auto racing – the constant
left-turns just haven’t grown on me yet), and some non-mainstream
ones. My TV defaults to ESPN, and I can’t get enough, most
times.
As for participating in sports, I love to play just about anything
– when I was working in D.C., I was on a tough-as-nails adult
kickball team, and I’m rehabbing to get back into top form. ;) I
was also the captain of the ::cough:: JV ::cough:: tennis team in
college, but I’m a bit out of practice. I’m getting my rackets
re-strung pretty soon, and I’d love someone to play with – either
to teach a few things, or perhaps to have them teach me, who
knows.
-----
Fun Fact 3: Although I'm not really into the boy-band scene, a
hotel once did cancel the Backstreet Boys' hotel reservation so I
could get the penthouse suite with a few of my friends.
-----
That one’s a long story, which is fun to tell. I have no secret
obsession or connection to any boy bands, promise. My favorite band
is the Foo Fighters, and I think Dave Grohl is about as anti-boy
band as they come. Other than that, I’ll listen to just about
anything other than the most bubble-gum pop, country, and death
metal. My two (younger) sisters like country, so they’re in the
process of trying to convert me over to the dark side – I’ll let
you know how that turns out.
Well, if you’ve got this far, I’m impressed. I figure I’ve been
honest enough to put enough things in here so that I thought just
about everyone could find something that puts them off, but it
would appear as though you have persevered. For my part, I’d
definitely like to get to know you better.
I’m not sure if this profile sounds abrasive or not (I’ve never
been really good at evaluating how things I say appear), but I
promise you that I’m at least a worthy investment of your time. I
am fiercely loyal to my friends and family, and will certainly be
so to any special someone that I may happen to meet on here or
elsewhere. I believe in honesty, respect, and caring for people
above all else, and I’ll always be straightforward with you.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I'm involved in the public-interest side of the law (which means
I'm one of the few individuals who has a law degree that doesn't
ride around in a mercedes and/or a private boat). I am very
passionate about each individual getting a fair shake at the
judicial system, and about continually being a voice for those who
have none within the system itself. I work every day (or at least
during the week) to try to further those ends because each person
has a story and cannot be reduced to a mere number or a statistic.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm a decent singer, although I'm out of practice. I was in a group
in middle school and high school, but a communications / political
science double major & law school just didn't lend themselves
to singing rather often.
