I am a person who always tries to balance following their bliss and
their blisters. I can often find both of these when I’m on stage
performing completely made-up on the spot full length plays for
audiences who have no idea what to expect, with sweat dripping down
my brow and a light-board my fellow cast members and I barely know
how to use, but it works out nonetheless. Or I am equally happy and
fulfilled volunteering through the heart of the day, whether this
means sitting and keeping friendly elders company over a game of
cards, or playing games for a horde of kids with some of the
fiercest animal impressions I will ever see. Unlike a lot of folks,
having a fair dose of behind the scenes work in the office
organizing the things I just mentioned also gets my thoroughly
tickled. The quieter, blissful moments are how I sustain my energy,
sipping some soothingly fragrant jasmine green tea and watching a
film at least a couple decades old or listening to Sketches of
Spain by Miles Davis or some unusual but intriguing music a friend
recommended to me. I habitually get lost in stories I read on a
page, see on a screen or hear from a person I’m talking to. Expect
me to be the one listening with rapt attention, then starting an
impromptu research project on the historical context of an event or
the history of a certain word, not to necessarily fixate on the
details, but to get a glimpse of the wider picture. I’m a creature
motivated by frequent daydreaming and flights of fancy, especially
when I catch hold of them as I see them soaring down to Earth. I
get joyfully lost in my own head quite a bit, but I do enjoy seeing
new people and places to keep me growing, which I believe is how I
may have ended up here :).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Right now I am a student at Humboldt State studying Social Work. I
have had a long past with Theatre, English and History as majors
but I came to find that Social Work gets me out in the world and
lets me see and learn about the most oppressed folks in our
society, and do something to serve them on top of that. Currently,
I’m interning at an elementary school under a School Social Worker,
and I am tremendously excited and grateful for the opportunity. I
have focused heavily on working with the elderly for the past year,
and wanted to work with a new population. I am also working as a
Program Consultant at the YES House on the HSU campus, where I was
the Director for a companionship program serving the Elderly.
Currently I help make sure all the programs run smoothly and
empower the people who run them. I have also been a member of the
Unscripted Sutras Improv Club and performing Improv shows ranging
from “Who’s line is it anyway” type formats to Improvised plays,
which are all a lot of fun and very enjoyable for somebody with a
need to both perform and unleash their spontaneity. Between all of
these things I have recently started writing poetry again, slam and
free-verse mostly. I am also very fixed on compiling and going
through lists of the most influential books and movies, and then
reading/watching them all as time permits. I also love a good hike
when I can take one with friends, and trying new kinds of food is
also a lot of fun when the pocketbook can take it. In the future, I
hope to achieve my Masters in Social Work and become a Licensed
Clinical Social Worker exploring Psychodrama as a means of therapy.
I want to do as much traveling abroad as I can, and hope to work
with the peace corps after graduation. I also would love to expand
my poetry and fiction writing and work on my meditation and yoga
practices in the meantime!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-Acting & Theatre: It is my central channel for expression, and
I enjoy every minute of it
-Being humorous: My sense of humor has very wide parameters ( Can
be dry, wacky, crude, surreal, pun-filled) and I am proud to say
i’ve been told I have wonderful comedic timing. I try not to think
about it too much. When you think about it, you’re always at least
1 second behind.
-Narration and guided meditation. I have a voice that’s made me
consider being a yoga instructor on several occasions.
-Listening, I love doing it with others, and I’m getting better at
it every day
-Making subtle references to Movies, Books and other Media. Less of
a skill and more of a compulsion
-Staring Contests, Poker faces: I have no problem with these short

Let the Right One In
The Canterbury Tales
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Lord of the Rings exemplifies my childhood and the seeds of my
imagination. The Canterbury Tales exemplifies my love of
storytelling. The Alchemist is one of the most inspiring books i’ve
ever read, and LTROI is one of the most unconventional and
delightful “romances” i’ve ever read, especially for a Horror fan
The Seventh Seal
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-Hearty breath-stealing gut laughs, which have been the best
medicine I have taken for any pain or illness
-Cloudy days that are cozy enough to enjoy for what they are, but
welcome the sun when it arrives
-Imagination, just being able to sit under a shady tree and
daydream, and occasionally getting up and running around like a kid
playing pretend is always fun.
-Performing. If I can’t entertain or act in front of others, I will
quickly descend into insanity
-Curiosity, about anything and everything
-Yoga poses, especially when I’m at the perfect point between
exertion and comfort
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

way it affects my own internal world ,Whether to get tea or coffee

Finishing off a very long workweek with some friends at a small 4-6
person kickback, at someone’s house or maybe a quieter bar. Things
can freely get zany or calm, but never judgmental or uptight. After
a couple hours I bid everyone good night and head home. From there
I chat with my housemates a bit and then get into a movie, a book
or a very old PC RPG from the early 90’s I have trouble staying
away from. I will have done my extrovert phase and then moved
solidly into the introvert phase. That’s where my cup of tea comes
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I’m not sure if this would be the MOST private thing but it tells
you something about me: I have owned a series of large cooking
spoons at all times in my life since I first used one as a scepter
during a game as a kid. They are never used for cooking I like to
keep one around my room to remind me not to lose sight of childlike
joys. Occasionally I grasp them like a scepter if I’m trying to tap
into my creative side.

With regards to anything further than friendship, I’ll admit I am
looking for something a bit deeper emotionally, as I’m not much for
hook-ups. However, I should also say that I am rather busy with all
my commitments (school, job, performances etc.), and that might
affect how much time I can spend with someone. I would still love
to get to know someone new nonetheless.
