I am intelligent, funny, and adventurous.
My Self-Summary
I've always been global in mindset, loving ethnic neighborhoods,
food, museums and culture. Yet, I never travelled abroad until last
year. Have been working to change that in a big way.
Went to Budapest/Vienna/Prague last November and to Norway and
Denmark in May, which in and of itself tells you a lot about me.
I'd much rather explore some place a bit off the beaten path than
sit on the beach for a week.
While in Europe, I got to take part in one of my favorite
activities: trying ethnic food. I tried pork knee in Prague;
reindeer steak and whale carpaccio in Norway. No, not a vegetarian
obviously. I also went to some soccer games, took a boat cruise on
the fjords, hit up a museum or two (or five or six...), and found
the time to do some hiking.
Just booked a fall trip to Japan, which should be amazing.
I'm openminded, thoroughly independent (I get an "award" for being
LESS independent? Not quite OKCupid!), and adventurous and looking
for that someone special with whom to explore Chicago and beyond.
C'mon, let's go!
What I’m doing with my life
Pursuing happiness. Life's way too short to dwell on things
(although I do have the tendency to overthink). Am exploring new
things, planning future trips in my head, and making sure that when
I look back on my life, I can smile rather than grimace.
I’m really good at
Ordering the oddest food on the menu, using multiple forms of mass
transit to get someplace, making others smile, giving massages,
picking out the right wine to go with a meal, being silly.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm 5'7". Not my fault. Blame my parents.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Let's do this is reverse order.
Food: Just about anything ethnic and/or out of the ordinary. I've
had Cambodian food in Cleveland, Yemeni food in Brooklyn, sampled
whale and reindeer in Norway. Yet, I also LOVE a great homemade mac
and cheese. Oh, and anything related to cheese.
Music: Gogol Bordello, Green Day, The Offspring, The National,
Miles Davis, among others.
Movies: I'm not much of a moviegoer. I find myself disappointed too
often. Am a Field of Dreams/The Natural sort of guy. Like serious
films, but also like really stupid slapstick comedies (think Police
Academy films).
Books: Last few books I've read were Kafka's "The Trial" and
Kerouac's "On The Road". I tend to prefer nonfiction to fiction,
but like fiction which makes you think (part of why I so like Kafka
as an author).
The six things I could never do without
Food, water, air, hope for the future, family, friends.
Obviously too literal, but any women who say "eyeliner" or
"lipgloss" are probably not my type.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future, my goals and how to reach them, how many licks does it
really take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop.
On a typical Friday night I am
What's typical? Could be out with friends trying a new restaurant,
could be roaming around the city, going to a show of some sort. You
will NOT find me in a loud bar.
You should message me if
If nothing. I'll at least talk to anyone. Why not?
