My self-summary
As much as I love talking about myself, I feel that it’s more helpful to present myself from the perspective of those who have been around me. I prompted close friends and women I have dated to give a short description of me, as well as my best and worst qualities. I’m big on freedom of speech, so no content was removed from the original statements:

Male 25, Friend since freshmen year of college

Overall: “He is a contrarian who is skilled at getting to the core of issues and what people mean when they say certain things. He is a private person personally, but upfront and forward when meeting new people.”

Best: “…loyalty, solid friendship, and the consistency in his beliefs.”

Worst: “… being late, sloppy with respect to his general area (room, car, etc.). Others may say he is too forward with both strangers and those who are familiar with him.”

Female 22, Girlfriend of 9 months, friend for the last year.

Overview: “He is a very strong-willed person with a lot of principles, a lot of humor, and a lot of sincerity. He wants to challenge and be challenged. “

Best: “He is an honest and honestly good person. He has the most sincere and heartfelt motives for everything he does, and consistently strives to be true to himself. “

Worst: “He is very aggressive with his humor and principles and can be overbearing- his constant search for challenge often feels like a tendency toward conflict. “

Female 25, Dated on and off for a few months.

Overview: “He is one of the most honest and blunt people I have ever met. Although it can be disconcerting, it is also surprisingly refreshing. He is extremely passionate about certain subjects and can talk for hours (no joke) about said areas.”

Best: It is obvious how much he cares about his friends and family, and he will do whatever is in his power to do what he can to make the important people in his life feel valued.

Worst: He is very adamant in his views, which can feel overwhelming.

I would say that the opinions portrayed in the above section are pretty accurate. I am who I am, and I only plan to change in order to better myself, never to impress someone.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently I am coaching football, working with the elderly, and working as a teacher’s assistant at a middle school. One of my goals is to receive a PhD in social psychology. Eventually I want to conduct research, be a college professor, and advise political campaigns. So, in order to make it more than just a dream I am currently contacting professors and working on my applications. I applied last year but didn't get accepted; I will not fail again.
I’m really good at
seeing both sides of an issue, being extremely blunt, not caring for the opinions of others, standing out, and coming up with ridiculous and possibly offensive mnemonic devices in order to help me remember newly learned words(ask me how I first memorized "capricious").
The first things people usually notice about me
My humility… and my greatness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The God Delusion, Purpose Driven Life. Over the last year all I’ve read is empirical psychological articles (LGBT and positive psychology) and current events. I’m not that great at starting books; perhaps you can suggest something.

Movies: Top 5 in no particular order: Ghost, Dark Knight, Any Given Sunday, Don’t Be a Menace in the South Side Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, He’s Just Not That Into You ( I am, unapologetically, into chick flicks)

Shows: My taste boils down to NFL football, politics, and comedy. Here are some of the shows that I never miss: Daily Show, Hardball, O’Riley Factor, Real Time with Bill Maher. I also listen to all of the Sunday morning political shows on podcast. Yes, I am a political junkie!

Music: My two criteria are sound and sentiment. Top 8 in no particular order: Backstreet Boys, Alicia Keys, Life Jennings, Ne-Yo, Eminem, K’Naan, Tupac, Maroon 5

Food: I’m pretty big on eating healthy. Your body will take care of you the way you take care of it. However, there are occasional slip-ups....
The six things I could never do without
-Coaching
-Intellectual stimulation / a challenge
-Internet
-Loved ones
-Health(sports, exercise, fitness[yoga is awesome!], nutrition, etc.)
-Humor/ laughter / banter/ sarcasm
I spend a lot of time thinking about
-Hypotheticals that will test the principles that govern you.
-Logical inconsistencies(my own as well as within the philosophies of others)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If you ask, I am open about most things; honesty is very important to me. In the context of the dating world, I think it is especially important to be as candid as possible about who you really are. With that said, I’ll use this section to list some things you may deem to be deal breakers(or perhaps deal makers):

Religion: I am a preacher… of doubt. I plead agnostic on the issue of a higher being, but don’t believe in the concept of virgin births, zombies nor talking snakes. While I am always open to changing my mind upon hearing a convincing argument, I think my position would be extremely difficult to amend, because I believe that my lack of faith is large part of who I am. As long as you are willing to have discourse pertaining to the issue, able to explain the reasoning behind those beliefs, and laugh at religious jokes, I have no problem with dating somebody religious. But they often have a problem with dating me…

Politics: I’m very liberal/libertarian on social issues (except guns and political correctness) and center left but moving rightward on fiscal manners. These are the directions that I lean, but I am very meticulous about analyzing each issue based on my values and principles. Despite not being a member of a political party (and having disdain for partisanship), I love politics, and there’s a good chance I will want to have discourse and ask you your opinion on different issues.

Living situation: The bad news is that I’m living with a lady; the good news is that it’s the same one I lived with before I went off to college (my mom). I do refer to her as my roommate, both because I think it’s funny and due to the fact that I pay some of the bills(enough to not feel like a free loader, but not so much that living there wouldn’t be financially feasible). I’m waiting on grad school before I make any decisions pertaining to the issue.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–27
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
If you want a man who is very chivalrous, sees you as somebody that needs to be completely taken care of and caters to your every desire… I am NOT the guy for you. I’m looking for somebody who views me as her equal and whose worldview doesn’t “revolve” around the notion that men and women HAVE to act in certain ways. Perhaps the next guy over, who has the shirtless-cellphone-mirror picture, can better accommodate you in this respect :)

Message me/ Reply to my message if:

-You are stimulated by (intellectual) discourse and debate.
-You are not easily offended (especially by jokes and/ or a lack of political correctness)
-You are fluent in sarcasm and like (witty?) banter
-You don’t consider “that’s just the way it has always been” a logical and valid argument
