My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hey, I'm a lady.

I'm an INTP who likes a lot of standard nerdy stuff, but not exclusively. I love nature, and going out into it. I love travelling, both short local drives and 20-hour flights to the other side of the world. I hope to do more of the latter when I am able, but of course I've chosen to be poor... but rich in spirit! I'm a post-grad looking to teach one day. One of my long-term goals is to teach a graduate seminar on American stand-up comedy. It'll happen!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Starting my PhD program in American Culture Studies this fall at BGSU.

"What're you gonna do with that??"

I'm getting paid to study television and pop culture. It's a beautiful thing, and I am very happy. I'm also teaching an Intro to Women's Studies class this fall. I'm having the kids read Y: The Last Man and write their own comedy sketches, among other things.

I live with one asshole cat named Shakespeare. He plays fetch.

Is that enough stuff? I dunno. I love good conversation with open-minded folks, so if you're of that ilk hit me up. Not literally.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Everything. Modesty.

Nah, here's a few things:

Drums. Specifically the bodhran and Scots snare. I play in a bagpipe band and it is my life-long love. If you don't like bagpipes, then... I can't say you're a bad person necessarily, but I doubt I will ever not see you as one :)

Paper-making. It's a hobby I picked up a few years ago. I make the wooden frames to make the paper then I make the paper. Good timesss

Creative writing. I'm a storyteller. If you want to read the weird shit I write, I can link you to some stuff.

Racquetball. Yeah, I'm decent!
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
What people notice first probably says more about that person than it does about me, so that's how I'm going to evade this question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I had a whole schpiel, but honestly just ask. I'd hate to be pigeonholed.

I am currently obsessed with Amy Schumer and Key & Peele, so there's that.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Batman, hobbits, my car, toasted sandwiches, science, and sssalliteration.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Star Trek is clearly more significant than Star Wars at least in terms of civil rights progress, and popular philosophy in general. Who Watches the Watchers is one of the best television episodes ever written. But are the dangers of religious ideology worse than the dangers of "progress"? And I don't mean the notion of technological or scientific progress. I'm referring to the anthropological warning against the idea of cultural progress. Living in a future where we can fly around the universe and visit other "primitive" cultures is fantastic and romantic. But I can't help but feel that humans, narcissistic as we be, just couldn't help but feel superior to those other human-like creatures. Or maybe we are superior? Or maybe there's no such thing as superiority because life is random and meaningless. I love Star Wars too.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Gaming or trying to learn the accordian or stargazing. Only those three things, obviously.

Actually, I'd really like to be playing poker. Like, real, gambling, Texas hold 'em with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I didn't hate X3.

You're an atheist astronomer who plays the bagpipes!

Or, if you want to.
