My self-summary
Let me start with why I'm here: I'm interested in meeting people or perhaps something more, should things go that way. Whether it be friendship or a relationship, I'm open to both. Anyways...

Hi! I'm generally a quiet kind of guy, a bit on the shy side actually... However once you get to know me I'm really outgoing. Send me a message if you want to chat sometime. I'm always up for anything ranging from friendly conversation all the way to fierce political debate. I'm pretty easygoing, give me an activity and I can usually find a way to enjoy it. More likely than not, I'll pick it up as one of my many hobbies (it's how I got into rock climbing).

Ideally I would like to meet guys who are driven and have ambitions. Best-case scenario is me finding someone I can count on and trust, someone who I'd want to be with and who I want to be with. Someone who is thoughtful and intelligent and who appreciates similar. That could be a friend, or something more meaningful.

I'm originally from Pittsburgh though I am currently living in Washington, DC. I spent time on both sides of the Hill, and currently I am a little under a year into a new job in Federal audit and advisory (Big Four).

My interests usually revolve around literature, film, theatre, and art. I also enjoy participating in some sports: mostly golf, rock climbing, martial arts, and yoga. Feel free to send me a message if you want to chat!

I am politically-minded, mildly nerdy, and shy. Also, I'm an ISTJ, for what it's worth.
What I’m doing with my life
I am living in DC, making plans, and working toward a CPA. That aside, I'm also just meeting people and living life.
I’m really good at
Obscure trivia, quoting The West Wing, explaining what's happening on the floor of the Senate or House of Representatives, tying neckties (I know six different knots, thankyouverymuch!), and reading letters that begin with the words "We have audited..."
The first things people usually notice about me
Apparently they notice that I'm much more gregarious than I think I am, which is a good thing. I would consider myself on the shy side, but that shouldn't preclude you from saying hi. Introverted doesn't mean I'm not outgoing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez is my favorite book with Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 being a close second. Macbeth, Lord of the Flies, The Catcher in the Rye, A Tale of Two Cities, and numerous others are all high up on my list. Things Falls Apart, The House of the Spirits, 1984, The Great Gatsby, Brave New World, and The Phantom Tollbooth are also noteworthy. The latter just came out in a 50th anniversary edition, and I'd like to reread it as I feel like I would appreciate the wordplay a lot more than I did when I first read it in the second grade.

As far as film goes, I'm a fan of film so long as it's good. Classics, action, science-fiction, you name it. Favorites include: A Clockwork Orange, Moon, Star Trek, and The Bridge on the River Kwai. Other highlights include Casino Royale, V For Vendetta, Donnie Darko, Pan's Labyrinth, Dark City, Equilibrium, Batman Begins, A Fistful of Dollars, Rashomon, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Micmacs (à tire-larigot).

Also, Shakespearean Adaptations: Romeo + Juliet, Macbeth (2006 Aussie Version), Scotland PA. Maqbool, Throne of Blood - there's a play of the Bard's that I am particularly fond of. Care to take a guess which one? ;)

TV Shows: The West Wing, LOST, The Wire, The Practice, Sherlock, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Any Masterpiece Theatre.

Theatre: Pippin, Les Miserables, South Pacific, The Book of Mormon, Metamorphoses (by Mary Zimmerman), ART, Macbeth, Monty Python's Spamalot, Avenue Q, The Producers.

Music? A lot. Really, a ton. I'm not huge on jazz, rap, or country, but other than that I'll probably like it. Arctic Monkeys, BNL, Rock Kills Kid, Billy Joel, Yes, Simon & Garfunkel, Nintendo Soundtracks, Chris Cornell, Franz Ferdinand, Depeche Mode, Harry Connick, Jr., and Peter Cincotti all adorn my iPod. A ton of Broadway show tunes, Beethoven's nine symphonies, Chopin's nocturnes, and Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" are there too.

Food is only food if paired with a good wine. Italian, French, burgers sometimes too. I'm carnivorous.
The six things I could never do without
My family, the NHL, my computer, my music collection, film, theatre, and my golf clubs (yeah that's seven, but I like to defy numerical constraints).

Also, my magic stick-on whiteboard surface paper hanging on the wall next to my desk is pretty useful
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Law and argumentation, cases in Federal Court system (not just the Supreme Court), politics, economic theory, investment opportunities, SOX (bonus points if you know, in all material respects, what SOX is and can express an opinion thereon).
On a typical Friday night I am
Studying for the CPA Exam. 3 down, 1 remaining.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Look above - if I wanted to reveal something, I'd have likely done it already.
You should message me if
If you want to :)

That said, please show that you care enough to bother writing something meaningful and I will be infinitely more likely write you back. Intelligence is important in my book, I make no apologies for that.
