My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm looking for a long term relationship, and I'd like to start a kooky little family. I am an open-hearted and generous person. I care deeply about the people near me, and I'm very loyal. I'd love to meet a kind-hearted, very bright, very funny person who is just as confused about the world as I am, but who is wholly brave enough and willing to live in it with an open heart. Most of all - I hope to find a soul mate. There are plenty of people I can do something with, I'd love to find someone I can do nothing with. That 'medianaranja'.

I have three masters degrees. I got them because I love to learn, read, and think about beautiful and difficult things. I love engaging conversation. Not political conversation, really, just life stuff. Everything that gets people through the day, the week, a life. I'd love to be able to share that.

Just a few more dorky details:

I'm -- hopefully -- goofy (but not way-out-there goofy.) Cute (but not at all cutesy). Smart. Funny, especially if you like your humor dry. A loyal Barcelona fan (the team, and also the city). A traveler, especially to big cities and beautiful countrysides. Love the idea of going to bizarre places where I don't speak the language. Like reading and writing, enjoying the great big moments in life and the little ones that can pass by unnoticed.

Although this "essay" might not sound like this -- I'm not that serious a person. I like to laugh, banter, and conspire foolishness. I'd rather listen to Howard Stern than NPR sometimes. That should be a private confession, but there you go.

I'm not sure why so many of these profiles look like adverts for endurance and extreme sports. So many people here bear no resemblance to any human being I've ever met (not even in DC). I believe that staying active and working out helps one feel better, stronger, more creative, all those good things - super important and essential to a well-lived life. But enough with the craziness. There is nothing wrong with staying in with a glass of wine and a nice movie, even when the day is nice outside. Skies will not fall.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to plug along with my dream, while working at a pretty amazing day job. When i'm not at my amazing day job, i'm a creative writer, working on a book about Ecuador. It has a lot to do with food.

I love family and friends, travel, and life. Work is just work. Life is more important - life is creating, exploring, and trying to gain an understanding. There are many ways to get to that. I also like to walk, walk, walk.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I guess anything expressive. I like to play musical instruments, and I like to write. I like to think that I'm pretty empathetic. Oh, also, I'm really good at falling on my ankle.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no idea. My teeniness probably. I'm almost pygmy-small.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Fav books-- Rayuela is probably my fav book. The Age of Innocence, Portrait of a Lady, Lolita, Wide Sargasso Sea, Giovanni's Room, The North China Lover (see a trend here?), One Hundred Years of Solitude, Orlando.

Movies -- Lots and lots and lots. Recently saw the Great Beauty and loved it. Love documentaries too, especially Errol Morris. Just saw the Act of Killing and thought that was brilliant. Blue, Spirited Away, Rear Window, Goodfellas, Rushmore, Election, All About Eve, Y Tu Madre Tambien, anything with Peter O'Toole and Peter Sellers. My cat's bird and squirrel movies are pretty cool too.

Food -- Food can be so many things. From good trashy fun to an art form. I love the whole spectrum. (Probably too much!). The best meals I've eaten -- roast chicken in Rome, fritada in Ecuador, the fresh fruit of India, my aunt's soups in Ecuador. My favorite - bar none -- trashy food - Taco Bell's Nacho Supreme. I think they lace it with cocaine.

I like the inside. I like wine, hot chocolate, and a beautiful book. I like unsettling movies. I like long walks in the city.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
family (all the little ones)
best friends
hard cash
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I daydream a lot. About- food, movies, images, how I'm going to finish that story I'm trying to write. My family, etc. I could basically walk into the middle of a highway with my head in the clouds.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
A zombie. After a long week of stressful work, fridays are cozy, pizza and empanada sort of days. Saturdays are when the action is.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I ate guinea pig once, in Ecuador. It was really very good. It looks like a rotisserie rat, but tastes way better than chicken, like wine-infused.

Please don't message me if you're polyam, open relationship, swinger, or any of that crap.
