My Self-Summary

Hi, thanks for checking out my profile. I'm from Brooklyn, but I'm in grad school in New Haven. I enjoy hanging around this area. There's a lot to do, but it's not quite as obnoxious as New York can get. I enjoy working out, cooking, grabbing a few tasty beverages with my classmates and friends from time to time, spending time with my family, especially the kids. Don't get the wrong idea. I don't like most people's children; I only like my godsons & nieces and nephews.

Hmmm, and now for some key words surrounded by brackets because I'm too lazy to incorporate these things into an introductory essay: philosophy, NY Giants, literature, religion, cooking (the food network was kind of a big deal to me for a bit), Greek tragedy, Camus, Kafka, Nietzsche, Dostoevsky anime and manga, South Park

What I’m doing with my life

Working on my master's in religion & philosophy. Other than that, I'm kind of socially useless.

I’m really good at

amusing myself. I'm hardly ever genuinely bored.

The first things people usually notice about me

My wrath, and that they're feeling it.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The Plague, A Raisin in the Sun, the Oresteia

Major Payne (yes, that one), Pulp Fiction, Big Fish, the Kill Bill movies, Team America, God on Trial, Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi (it was fun), The Brothers Bloom...and I just saw Zombie Land, which was hilarious.....and I've still got a bunch of great childhood memories tied to the first Ninja Turtle movie.

Dizzy Gillespie, Beres Hammond, Sizzla, Bob Marley, Celia Cruz, Handel, Rachmaninov, Beethoven, Chopin, Tupac, Big, Teddy P, R Kelly (you know, before ahem), Jay Z

My family is from Trinidad, so I love food from all over the West Indies & India. I also eat a lot of food from Latin America (that Brooklyn thing again), Viet, Thai, & Middle Eastern/ N. African food.

The six things I could never do without

My important people, and really good: conversation, beer/ food/ coffee, books, challenges, sex.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

my family, food, philosophy, literature, religion, and how I'm going to be president of the world some day.

On a typical Friday night I am

Bemoaning the fact that my native Brooklyn is overrun with hipsters. Please, don't get me started.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

In the fourth grade, I lost the election for class vice president by one vote--my own. I assumed that we couldn't vote for ourselves; it seemed unreasonable otherwise--and it still does damn it!--so I voted for the eventual winner.

I'm too lazy to do smart things on my smart phone.

You should message me if

Do it.
