My self-summary
Hellooooo.
I'm Tony. Film is my passion. I'm a social butterfly who typically flutters around music venues, sunny parks, crusty dive-bars, movie theaters, and anywhere I can engage in some stimulating conversion. I grew up in a small, shitty, redneck town in socal (to give you an idea, in a town of 50,000, we had two Super Wal-marts) but I moved to The City about 4 years ago for school and to experience what seemed to be the antithesis of my dilapidated bubble. I'd say it was a pretty good choice. I'm aspiring to work in the film industry as a producer. But right now, I'm a full time student. We'll probably get along.
What I’m doing with my life
Just graduated from SFSU with a BA in Cinema and a short film I wrote and directed under my belt that is on it's way to the film festival circuit *crosses fingers for SXSW*. Other than that, I do freelance Assistant Directing for film/video shoots, produce student films (hopefully more professional stuff in the future), and work for a catering company to pay the rent.
I’m really good at
Witty retorts, laughing, talking about movies, video games, puns, appearing clear-headed when I'm hammered, navigating bus routes, accents, impressions, and having fun. I'm also getting pretty good at cooking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think they notice that I carry myself very well, but it doesn't quite match my sarcastic, light-hearted demeanor and my propensity for mischief. I'm a Hyena in Lion's clothing.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Lots of Vonnegut; Breakfast of Champions is my favorite, On the Road by Kerouac, William S. Burroughs, Cormac McCarthey, Loooove Shakespeare, Lolita, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's, Heart of Darkness, Frankenstein, Nausea (Anything by Sarte or Camus, really). Lots of scifi stuff, Arthur C. Clarke, Philip K. Dick, George Orwell, Isaac Asimov. And I read lots of science non-fiction. Mostly stuff on the mind and consciousness, cosmology, and other heady shit.

Movies: Stanley Kubrick, Danny Boyle, Darren Arronofsky, Tarantino, Jean Godard, Park Jan-Woo, David Lynch, Michel Gondry, Charlie Kaufman, Orsen Welles, Lars Von Trier, Terrance Malick... to name a few of my favorite directors.
If I were to give you a top 5 in no particular order, it would have to be: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Lebowski, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Citizen Kane, Boogie Nights.

Music: Eclectic is an understatement. A lot of metal - the sludgy, doomy, heavy kind. A lot of electronic music too - the hip-hopy, beatsy, bassy, experimental, and the occasional dancey kind. And a good bit of Hip-hop too. The Mars Volta is my all-time favorite band.
Currently on rotation: Death Grips, Shlohmo, Groundislava, Darkside, Sleep, ODESZA, Nosaj Thing, Four Tet, Flying Lotus, Disclosure, Deafheaven, James Blake, TNGHT.
The six things I could never do without
- That euphoric rush of dopamine when the band/DJ is killing it on stage.
- That final adjustment to attain 100% comfort just as the lights dim in a movie theater.
- Starting the first shot on a film production.
-Watching the steam emanate from that succulent, impeccably tin-foil wrapped El Farolito super burrito with Al-pastor. Is it hot in here or is it just me?
- The internet and all of it's beautiful torrenting sites.
- Mama's first big hug on the holiday visits back home.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My next big adventure. College was great and all and its tempting to jump right into my career, but the extent of my human experience thus far in my life is way too narrow for how wide this world is. I'm thinking Southeast Asia. Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam - somewhere far, far out of my comfort zone. I also hear beer there is like a quarter and massages are a dollar an hour, so that's pretty enticing.
On a typical Friday night I am
If the event I'm catering isn't getting out too late that night, it's casting off the monkey suit for my Levi's and Docs and heading down to Buckshots on Geary to turnup with some well-whiskey fueled, unabashedly ridiculous (and in my opinion, AMAZING) footwork on a sweaty dance floor. I just hope I get there before the DJ drops R.Kelly's ignition remix.
If it's a late night at work than I'll be dropping the needle on some vinyl and sparking up a joint with the roommates.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I used to have an afro. Not joking. Not like a Michael Jackson circa the mid-70's standard fro, or Bob Ross kink-fro, and not quite the Woody Allen Jew-fro either. It was like if Jimmy Page and Jimmy Hendrix had a baby, but while in utero, they altered his genetic code to add more volume to his hair. Ya. I was one bad mammajamma.
You should message me if
The type of woman I find attractive tends to be laid back - she doesn't let the little things ruin her pursuit of fun; intelligent - she can keep up in conversations that extend beyond Kim Kardashian's latest tweet; and fun - the world is her oyster and with her sword she will open. If that sounds like you, shoot me a message and let's chat more.
