My Notes edit

My self-summary

I grew up in Iowa (that's the one with pigs and corn, not potatoes), and I've been living in Arizona for about 4 years now after having moved down here for school, which I have as of now successfully finished! And am now considering going back. It's a vicious circle.

I'm currently working a tech support job while looking for something that's a little more long-term. Although with things being the way they are right now, I'm just happy to have a job!

Most of the rest of my time is spent working on projects I've set myself, typically of the artistic variety, or preferably out hiking somewhere. Very rarely I find the time to make myself sit down and write. Used to do it all the time.

I enjoy road trips to either a known destination, or just grabbing a map and some snacks, picking a direction, and going. On that note, I have yet to make it to the Grand Canyon. Seems a little strange after 4 years.

What I'm doing with my life

Adjusting to life without school, and it's feeling pretty good! However, I've also started to realize that my initial choice in education isn't something I've really got the passion to pursue as a career, so back for more! Except this time with a plan...

While I like Arizona alright for now, I don't see myself staying here forever. Seattle is a definite possibility.

I'm really good at

I'm a pretty good cook when the mood strikes, and have somehow become rather adept at mixing drinks. I'm quite good at the tech stuff, so yes I can fix your comupter. Also good with computer graphics and painting, along with random movie trivia and providing totally random topics of conversation. Plus I've had a lot of practice at being a total geek, which my test results support. You've officially been warned, though I manage to keep it under wraps when need be. Also, procrastination. Which I'm working on... well, you know, eventually.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

Honestly? It's that I'm awesome. I've also been told I have nice eyes, but I don't know how fast that registers. Being overshadowed by the awesome, you know. Did I mention the touch of smart-assed-ness?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Well, that's an awful lot for one little box, but here it goes:

My favorite book of all time is I Want to go Home! by Gordon Korman. That's really the only stand-out title on my list; I tend to go more by favorite authors, which would include Neil Gaiman, R.A. Salvatore, Terry Pratchett, Christopher Moore, Mark Twain, and Kurt Vonnegut. There's several more, but that should do to provide the basic idea. I also read a fair amount of graphic novels and comics.

My criteria for seeing a movie mostly consists of: does this look entertaining? I'm a big fan of the summer blockbuster/popcorn flicks. Not to say I avoid movies with a more serious subject matter, but they better be done in such a way as to keep me interested. Really bad movies also hold a special place in my heart. As for a list, here goes: Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, Iron Man, Dark Knight, Tropic Thunder (thanks for restoring my faith, Ben Stiller), 12 Monkeys, Better Off Dead, Goonies, The Last Starfighter, Everything is Illuminated, 40 Year-old Virgin, Mirror Mask, Stardust, Fight Club, XXX, Bourne Identity series, Alien and Aliens, Big Trouble in Little China, Clash of the Titans, Dark Crystal, Blade Runner, most of the James Bond films (no, the new ones aren't a Bourne rip-off), Dawn of the Dead, Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, Grosse Pointe Blank, Ghostbusters, Lars and the Real Girl, Little Miss Sunshine, Lord of the Rings, Nightmare Before Christmas, Real Genius, Three Amigos, and I think I'll stop there.

For the food, I'd say sushi first and fore-most, followed in no particular order by a good steak, any sort of seafood, Italian, Mexican, and Mediterranean.

Musical leanings are primarily towards the hard rock/metal genre, including Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Led Zeppelin, Audioslave, The Tea Party, Rammstein, Monster Magnet, Motorhead, and a whole lot more. This won't turn into another Movies list.

The six things I could never do without

Aside from the obvious food, air, and water, I'm going to go with: my "core" group of friends, my computer, sour gummy worms, being outside, my pink plastic Jesus (I call him PJ), and one other thing that is eluding me.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

My brain tends to wander when it doesn't have anything to keep it occupied. Which is pretty often. Also all the things I would tell my younger self if time travel were an option. And how hard I'd punch my younger self in the head if he didn't listen.

I am now also contemplating the hierarchy of my eventual post-apocalyptic cult I'll evidently be starting up. What did I ever do before taking the tests on this site? Let me know if you'd like to be considered.

On a typical Friday night I am

Out at RA with friends (including EasyDays) for happy hour, hanging out with drinks and watching movies (typically MST3K, with aforementioned friends. Not alone. Just thought I'd clarify that bit.), or just sacked out at home reading or playing video games.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'm horrible at karaoke. And playing music in general.

You should message me if

You'd like someone new to talk to, or someone to go out with for a hike, chatting over drinks, out to a movie, whatever! And while I'm absolutely fine with chatting with people from wherever, if you're looking for a relationship, please at least be in the same state!

Also, as mentioned, if you'd like to be considered for a position in my forthcoming cult. Those tests don't lie, you know.
