My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Me? I'm a passionate, geeky musician. We're talking bassoons and bagpipes and 15th century folk tunes geeky. Okay, I do also love Mozart and I'm developing a weakness for Bel Canto. Still, that's my example of less geeky? Don't say I didn't warn you. I'm a reader, a baker, a cyclist, a singer, a dancer. I come from a family of scientists, and I'm told it shows. I care deeply about my family and my family of friends. I also love me some scrabble.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Going after a dream....and looking for a day job. Isn't this economy fun? I'm looking for ways to have more good music and more good people in my life - taking the time to focus on things that are important to me. I'm starting an orchestra and working for a concert series. I make the best croissants in town.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Well, see above re: best croissants in town. More importantly, I'm a good listener, and a good teacher. I'm good at caring, and I try to make sure my friends know that I do. I can make a really small paper crane. I'm also very good at BSing my way through instruments I don't really know how to play. I hope there are musicians reading this, but for everyone else, see above re: geeky.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Hmmm. There's the sarcasm. Should I really open with that? I hope they also notice the smile behind the snark. There's my big leaf earrings, people notice those. There's also the bike, 'cause that's probably how I got to wherever this noticing is happening. And the baking, somehow that always comes up. The helpful, I hope people notice that. I just hope they don't notice the spaz moments where I spill something all over the floor, but that's probably wishful thinking. How about my ability to laugh at myself? That sounds better.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite book at the moment is Pascal Mercier's 'Night Train to Lisbon'; the last good book I read was Josh Ritter's 'Bright's Passage'. Old friends include books by Cather, Tolkien, Eco, Susan Cooper, David Eddings, and Tamora Pierce.

I'm more of a TV person than a movie person, but I do like my adventures and romances: Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Keeping the Faith, Love Actually, Lost in Translation. Krzysztof Kieslowski's White is a favorite when I want something denser. As for TV - Doctor Who! also Bones, House, In Plain Sight, Mad Men, Studio 60, Firefly, West Wing.

Huh, music..where to begin...? "Start at the beginning, it's a very good place to start" The Cantigas of Santa Maria, Josquin, Lassus, Pevernage, Monteverdi, Rameau, Fasch, Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Verdi, Stravinsky, Gubaidulina...Josh Ritter, Nickle Creek, Patricia Pettibon, Bagpipe Rock, Piffaro, Vasen, Hurdy-Gurdy Electronica....

I can be a bit of a foodie. I'll try just about anything, but I tend to go for fresh and flavorful. For restaurants, my favorites are Indian and Mexican. At home, it's usually Japanese, Italian, or American. For a treat, find me a great pastry chef. It's possible that I once made a bacon cake. Okay, twice.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Physical things? My oven, my bike, my instruments, my computer, & my books.

OR - Warmth, Motion, Passion, Connection, Community, & Curiosity.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people do the things they do. Why I do the things I do. How to do the things I want to do. What are the things I most want to do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
enjoying some home cooking and a show, poking around the internet, or planning a show of my own.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Swimming pools freak me out. I can swim, and I'm not afraid of deep water. It's just pools, anything too deep to touch the bottom. There's a world down there that I can see, that's connected to me through the water, but seperate. It makes me feel vulnerable. The lane lines are sinister. The underwater lights are eyes to another place - whatever's really behind that world below.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Message me if you now have bits from 'The Sound of Music' in your head (Sorry 'bout that). Message me if you're curious, if you're tempted, if you want to be tempted.

More importantly, message me if I made you smile. I like doing that.
