My self-summary
Somewhere between Audrey Hepburn and Adina Howard. I drink with my pinky up (seriously, I can't help it), but I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty. Growing up with class-clashing, multi-religious background gave me a ton of ridiculous stories and made me adaptable. I'm allegedly ENFP & OkCupid says I'm both "more aggressive" and "more submissive," which is amusing, and possibly true.

I think this summary lacks perspective, here are some insights from other people.
Guy friend: "You'd be an excellent Vulcan."
Girl friend: "You're like Samantha, in Charlotte's clothes - or her life!"
What I’m doing with my life
Helping a Philadelphia based restaurant corporation spread its tentacles in DC. Racking up OpenTable points and foursquare badges. Continually, and often intentionally, subverting stereotypes. Balancing blatant ambition with a sincere desire to see everyone else succeed too.
I’m really good at
Accidentally ruining the next line in a movie
Being the designated listener
Figuring out what's in a recipe
Grinning shiftily (see picture)
Guessing the next answer on Jeopardy!
The details

Things that I cannot do at all, but would like to learn:
How to dice things really fast, and all the same size
Playing the guitar
Skydiving
Snowboarding
The first things people usually notice about me
"That I'm young and I'm black and my hat's real low? Do I look like a mind reader, sir? I don't know!"

Possibly my awesome glasses; I've got a few. If you're cramming into me on the metro, it's my delightful perfume. A little further away probably my hair, or that I don't really wear pants. (Meaning I've usually got on a dress or skirt, perv.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
John Waters once said “We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody, and they don't have books, don't fuck 'em! Don’t sleep with people who don’t read!” I abide by this statement. I bought a nook in August and it's made my addiction worse.

Olives. Feta. Goat cheese. Ginger. Nutella. Hoisin sauce. Star anise. Mandarin oranges. Peshwari naan. Bagels w lox & capers. Pho. Pain au chocolat. If you put truffle on it, I will probably eat it. Just stared eating meat about 2 years ago - I've been missing out on bacon and burgers and foie gras terrine my whole life.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How brilliant that I can buy groceries and wine for dinner in the same place, and the whole world doesn't close down at 2am.

Ridiculous plot theories. Trivia. Soccer players. Dinner plans. Opening my open place by 40. Feminism. Gender roles. Language patterns. Intersectonality. Crazy conversations with my parents. Exactly what color is my hair? Why did MTV cancel Undressed? Layers of consciousness. Social justice. Sex. How outrageously privileged I am (and you probably are too). Where I've left my yoga mat. Pronouncing people's names properly. Travel. Under-appreciated architecture. Food blogs. Where is Murakami going with this story, and why do people like this? Whatever I'm currently reading. What kind of state my apartment is in right now. ¿Qué dijo el cocinero que decirme? / ¿Cómo decir esta mierda en español? Nerdy pursuits.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
- I really think I'm the same size as a 6'4 dude until I can't reach something on the top shelf.
- Kanye West once gave me a bottle of Armand de Brignac, (Ace of Spades) and I did not enjoy it. It's kind of shitty. I didn't have the heart to tell him.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 23–38
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
- You've got a great restaurant/bar, museum, book, or movie suggestion. Especially the restaurant part. My knowledge of the District's culinary selections are severely lacking. I'm so down for touristy stuff.
- You want to tutor me in one of the things I'm not (yet) really good at.
- Watching a scifi marathon & overanalyzing it sounds appealing to you.

[I know writing a first message sucks - But if you're only going to say "How you doin'?" or "What's up?", I'm fine, thank you.]
