My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"I'm not a machine. I feel and believe. I have opinions. Some of them are interesting. I could, if you'd let me, talk and talk. Let's talk about anything."
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I write, read, go to shows, marvel daily at things on the street, spend a measurable percentage of my income on coffee and cider... but most importantly, I'll stop whatever I'm doing to marvel at a cute dog.

I'm a professional nerd for a Ballard company that sells nerd things to nerds.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Knowing the first thing about things. Learning second things is difficult and often dangerous, but the first thing is where all the fun lies.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The two most common things say to me as conversation-openers: "how tall are you" and "do you play basketball." Half of my daily mental energy is spent not making snarky comebacks, such as "are you a jockey?"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I am undergoing a 1/4-life crisis because I didn't read as many books as I did in my earlier, nose-constantly-in-Harry-Potter days. Trying to correct that. I'm a big fan of David Foster Wallace and Nabokov, and as of late, Alan Moore. The best nonfiction book I've ever read is 'Thinking, Fast and Slow' by Daniel Kahneman.

Movies: Memento, Children of Men, Network, and The Third Man are my favorites. Oh, and Wall-E was the greatest thing ever too.

One time I dated a girl, and we watched Mean Girls together. She didn't like it. We broke up almost immediately after that.

Shows: RuPaul's Drag Race. That's about it

...okay fine also The Wire, Community, and a bunch of other shows. Does basketball count as a show? It is a show. I watch basketball.

Music: I would say that I listen to everything. But I don't. I like punk/post-punk/all-the-indie-rock-influenced-by-punk; the indie rock NOT influenced by punk; hip hop; electronic music; Satan's Fingers; The Hospital Bombers.

Top 7 albums:
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet
Gang of Four - Entertainment!
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico
The Stooges - Fun House
Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
Kid606 - Kill Sound Before Sound Kills You
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Music.

Cities.

Jokes.

Intelligence.

Connectivity.

Guacamole.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to phrase things.

How to phrase things while using the word "boner."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
If I'm in, I'm at a friend's house playing games and forgetting who won the last game.

If I'm out, my favorite bar is one that looks like a complete dive, but secretly has the best cocktails for miles. It's like a secret, except with a purposefully-flickering 'BAR' sign.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Stop asking me about the Quest for Rutabaga, okay? I am so fucking sick of people messaging me for no other reason but to ask about the stupid Quest for Rutabaga. If you only message me about the Quest for Rutabaga and no other reason, you WILL NOT get a response.

  • Ages 21–25

...you're enthusiastic about something interesting. Humor is necessary, sarcasm is fine; just have something that you care about, and we'll probably get along great.

...if you want to talk about books, movies, music, movies about music, books about music, music about books, books about movies, movies about books, etc.

...if you think that OKCupid's 1k-word suggested minimum punishes those who spend time cutting words from their profile to make it read better. How dare you suggest my profile isn't "finished," OKCupid. It won't be finished until I sufficiently self-summarize in sub-haiku-length.

...your ideal man is not one featured on letsnotdate.tumblr.com or the dearly departed Nice Guys of OKC tumblr

...you think Ian Curtis is the epitome of masculinity.

...you have a cute dog.
