I am fresh, thorough, and pumped up.
My Self-Summary
I'm an
art,
music and
design nerd, and I tend to spend
most of my time involved in all three. I'm a little bit of a
workaholic but am pretty easy going. I try not to take myself too
seriously, live in the moment and enjoy what's goin' on. I have a
generally strange sense of humor and am a fan of absurd and
ridiculous things.
What I’m doing with my life
I work at a visual effects school in Hollywood as a designer and
instructor (teaching a class about building an online portfolio and
marketing yourself). In my free time I work on various art/design
projects and experiment with electronic music.
I moved out to LA at the beginning of 2008 (from Indiana) and and
have been enjoying discovering lots of new things. I visit a lot of
the art openings and also enjoy hitting up the Dr. Sketchy's figure
drawing sessions. I love to draw but am nowhere near as good as I'd
like, so I'm working on it.
I spend a lot of time on the internet. You can check out some of
the places I do stuff at:

I’m really good at
Helping out, not being a douchebag, being sarcastic and having
decent grammar/writing. I also fancy myself a creative person but
I'll leave the judgment of that stuff to other people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I've got a smile and blue eyes. Apparently I naturally come off as
a bit standoffish and elitist which is not my intention but seems
to be my demeanor! Sorry about that.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books:
The Shape of Content,
The
Demon-Haunted World (I really need to read more Carl
Sagan),
Siddhartha,
The Dhammapada (a lot of
buddhist philosophy appeals to me but I wouldn't consider myself a
buddhist)
I'm also a fan of vintage 70's-era sci-fi paperbacks, as much for
the art direction as the stories (which are sometimes good and
sometimes not so good, though still entertaining).
Movies:
2001,
The Deer
Hunter,
Blade
Runner,
Aliens
(i'm a sci-fi nerd),
Pootie Tang
Music:
David
Bowie,
King
Crimson,
Wire,
Brian Eno,
Bill
Callahan/
Smog,
Low,
Prince,
Harold Budd
The six things I could never do without
I swear I'm not that materialistic but here's my list:
- drawing
- drums
- chamomile tea
- music
- laptop
- good people
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I'll be doing later, how things work, all of life's most epic
questions.
On a typical Friday night I am
Making art, hitting up an art opening with friends, attending a
show or making music. Or I might just be staying in and enjoying a
good movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
When I was 17 I went into a coma for a week and it was pretty
crazy.
You don't really have dreams when in a coma but I did during the 2
weeks I spent slowly coming out of it and they were some of the
craziest, most epic things I've ever experienced. Ask me about them
and I can talk for a few hours.
You should message me if
You're not looking for drama and enjoy checking out some of the LA
art openings.
