My zest for life comes from my community and the way in which I can strive to live out the life of Christ by caring for others. I strive to build up community rather than allowing differences (religious, political, familial) to break it down.
I also find joy in the simple things of life that don't necessarily include the need to constantly update my material possessions. Having the basic needs of life, a loving community, friends, and the ability to be save / invest so that I might also be giving are the main things that bring joy and fullness into my life.
In my free time I am often times studying God's word, doing healthy outdoor activities (i.e. running on beautiful Assateague Beach, working in my garden, hiking anywhere and everywhere, fishing), cooking good food for company, having deep conversations with friends, engrossing myself in the pages of an inspiring book, or engaging my community and in the churches I serve.
I am rather spontaneous, joyful, go-with-the-flow, kind of person who can be happy in almost any situation. Happiness and joy in my own life isn't a feeling but rather it is simply a choice I make to look at the world and see God working in my life, through my life, and in the lives of the people around me. It is very uncommon to see me without a smile.
