My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Let's get the worst bit out of the way quickly - I'm a lawyer. I've had a successful career but I've realised I've probably put too much effort into being a lawyer at the expense of forming a really close relationship. I'm now thinking that there's a life after law and that it would be good to share it with someone.

But I also enjoy women's company anyway, and I'm quite interested by the idea of meeting someone who's virtually a complete stranger (though we'd obviously have had some sort of a chat first). I think it could be quite exciting, even if it turns out we've nothing much in common - nothing ventured nothing gained.

This is the first time I've ever tried internet dating, so I've no idea how much to put in here, but I'll work on the basis of brief is best and leave it at that.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working. I love my work, but it's dominated my life for too long. I need to get that elusive work/life balance tilted a bit more towards life, and it would be good to meet someone to help me do it.

It's not all work though. I'm fairly outdoorsy, and I suppose my main hobby is cycling, though I'm a bit of a wimp and try to avoid hills! I also love to travel, and manage to fit in quite a bit, both weekends away and longer trips.

I'd describe myself as pretty happy overall, but like most people I suppose I do wonder at times if I'd be happier in a `proper' relationship.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking steak - I'll guarantee it's the best you've ever had!
Drinking wine, though I should be after the years of practice I've put in.
Drawing. I used to do quite a lot, and regret letting it slip. I'm hoping to get back to it.
My job (and I damn well should be, the hours I've put into it!)

Not sure I really have any favourite books, but I do love reading, both fiction and non-fiction. One of the best I read recently was Periodic Tales about the elements. I must admit it doesn't sound exactly riveting but it was fascinating. I also enjoyed Just My Type, a book about all the different fonts and typefaces that we see and take for granted. I think I may have slightly geekish tendencies!

Movies – I’m quite a romantic, and my favourite film without doubt is Casablanca, which I must have seen 20 times. But I enjoy the cinema and go every few weeks. My funniest film ever was and still is Life of Brian, even though I practically know it off by heart. And Pulp Fiction - I love the dance sequence to Teenage Wedding.

Musical tastes are a bit like my reading – varied. I love the more romantic type of opera, and I often take in a trip to the local opera when I'm travelling. I went to the Verona Opera Festival a couple of years ago and it was brilliant (Italy's probably my favourite country, which made it even better).

Food. Well I hate sprouts and cauliflower. Other than that I enjoy most types of food, but as I've got older I've realised I prefer simple but high quality food to elaborate restaurant confections and all the pretension that goes with it.

My favourite food of all time is salt baked dorado, which I have every year at Juan y Andrea, a restaurant in Formentera that I visit at least once a year - http://www.juanyandrea.com/en/

Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either in the local pub with friends or at home, having a bath, cooking a good dinner (which always involves a glass of champagne to kick off with) and watching TV that I've recorded during the week. Time for confession, I'm a fan of Corrie, and I look forward to catching up at the weekend.

I like Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin Bath Oil.
