My self-summary
I'm so Midwestern it hurts.

Originally from rural Missouri, I moved to Chicago about four years ago. I spend most of my time working, reading, writing, organizing, and occasionally going out for a drink with friends.

Queer or pansexual is more accurate than bi.

Future communard, current co-op dweller.

INTJ, and I need more excuses to go out.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a baker, which means I work really funny hours and don't have a normal social life because I'm asleep when most people go out. I have started to figure out what bars are open at noon in my neighborhood, though.

Honing my kitchen skills, Modern Arnis, becoming an amateur historian, learning to decorate cakes, and hating on capitalism.
I’m really good at
Brewing beer, making cakes, drunkenly rambling about literature and abstract radical political theory, complaining, drinking coffee, and talking until the wee hours of the morning.

Really, really good at cuddling and baking vegan treats.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm small and quiet, with a dry sense of humor. Glasses, facial hair, and tattoos.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I own more books than anyone should be allowed. Favorites include God of Small Things, Black Boy, Half of a Yellow Sun, A People's History of the United States, Strike!, Beloved, and How The Irish Became White. I can usually be caught reading labor history, race theory, social movement history, Marxist or anarchist theory, and books about the Harlem Renaissance or the Beats. Currently reading stuff about far right social movements and lefty economic thought.

I don't watch movies as often as I used to, but I do like a good documentary. Brazil, The Thing, Road Warrior, The Empire Strikes Back, Do The Right Thing, and anything by Akira Kurosawa would be pretty high on the list. I don't watch much television, either, but my Twin Peaks and Trailer Park Boys boxed sets would be pretty hard to do without. I'm always willing to take recommendations for a good movie, but I don't have the attention span for most television.

Country, post-punk and black metal. And Swans. Definitely Swans. If you have recommendations for things crusty and d-beat, send them my way.

I love food. I love to cook for myself and friends, and I've spent enough time working in kitchens to be a decent cook. Favorites include homemade soups, curries, jerk, southern food and baked goods. Right now, I'm working on making southern desserts. I also do the occasional homebrewing, which I won a prize for a while back.
The six things I could never do without
1) Books.
2) A bicycle.
3) Denim.
4) Flannel.
5) Black tea.
6) Black metal.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A classless, stateless society with everyone working according to their capability and consuming according to their need.

White skin privilege, the social construction of race, and how to effectively organize against racial oppression.

Prison abolition, anti-imperialism/decolonization, and baked goods.
On a typical Friday night I am
I usually work Saturday morning, so nothing exciting.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I act like I'm a cranky sextagenarian trapped in a twenty-something's body.

I'm particularly interested dating couples - not so much for flings, but for a triad.
I’m looking for
  • Guys and girls who like bi guys
  • Ages 21–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You live in Rogers Park or Evanston and want to play board games or have a beer.

You think going out for coffee sounds like a good idea, or you want to show me your favorite bar.

Bonus points if you like talking about radical politics or you dedicate way too much of your free time to activist projects.
