My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Since all the cool kids are doing it: Instagram @ JPG_505

And I need to change my profile name. You know that screenname you had for LiveJournal in high school? It's pretty much that embarrassing at this point.

I love driving along empty roads taking in scenery and small towns. Learning new things, exploring new cities. I'm one to enjoy the journey more than the destination. Tend more towards the big idea stuff.

Finished with school for now. I'm working on writing, fitness, and culture. I'm working on some very enjoyable projects while plotting my next move.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working in education with a group that brings computer science education to classrooms. I get to take some pretty advanced concepts in math and science and make them approachable to kids of all ages.

An important part of my life is my family's farm outside Santa Fe. We have several hundred acres with gardens, pastures, cows, horses, and acres of back country to get lost in. I spent the first 20 years of my life trying to get off the farm, and now the next 20 trying to get back. I like to spend as much time there as I can taking care of the gardens.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Analogies. My brain works laterally.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My curly hair.

And unbelievable swagger.

Epicurianism is a cornerstone of my life. I like the true, beautiful, and passionate. I live on a farm, like to cook, hike, drive, read good books, play good games, watch good movies.

Books:
Authors I like: McCarthy, Sedaris, Ed Abby, Le Guin, Asimov, Bradbury, Gibson, Vinge, Quinn. Hunger Games is one of the more recent enjoyable things I've read.

TV:
PBS or Current-type channels: Frontline, NOVA, Nature, ScienceNOW, This American Life (show). I've been meaning to binge on some Netflix'ed TV shows, and I'll take recommendations.

I also really enjoy cartoons. I have a soft spot for Genndy Tartakovsky, Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Maxwell Atoms, Bob Clampett and Joe Murray.

Food:
Just about anything, as long as it's moderately healthy and/or local. I love fresh cajun food, green & red chile, mushrooms, fresh tomatoes. I also make some fantastic huevos rancheros.

Music:

Too much to name, just go here and get your stalk on: http://grooveshark.com/#/pipboy2077/music/favorites

Movies:
Mostly sci-fi or comedy.

No Country for Old Men, Airplane!, Kill Bill, Serenity, Cowboy Bebop, Empire Strikes Back, Lego Movie, Men in Tights, Lord of the Rings, Léon, Black Dynamite, Yi Yi, Waking Life.

Cohens, Miyazaki, Brooks, Tarantino.

Anime.

Pixar.

Good indie films and documentaries.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1). A laundry machine. An essential luxury in my book.

2). Olive oil. I defy to find a better ingredient in the kitchen.

3). Solid cast iron cooking pan. Anything else is just amateur hour.

4). Clean socks.

5). Spicy foods. Tabasco sauce is included in my travel kit when I go overseas.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Exactly what "down to earth" means, and why everybody describes themselves as such.

Also, things like feminism, economic disparity, population growth and resource management, civil rights. If you have an interest or opinion on any of these things, I think we'll get along.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Fridays, meh.

Saturday mornings is where it's at: Farmers market!

That said, I secretly want to become a street artist and make cheekily humorous social commentary.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I really need to watch more TV/Netflix. I feel like I'm missing out on a so many conversations because I haven't seen stuff like Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey, etc...

Also, I use proper punctuation in my text messages. Weird? Maybe.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Since OKCupid is broken and it seems most women receive dozens of "hey cutie" and proposition messages, here's the deal: Let's try a little female empowered dating. I don't want to contribute to the creep pool and send out a thousand messages in the hope that you might find mine less appealing than dozens of others. I might send a few, but for the most part If you think we would get along, send me a message instead? Is that creepy in itself? Send me a message and let me know.
