Books: I have a soft spot for the beat American writers and most
things that came after. A favourite is Hunter S. Thompson.
I stumbled on a book called Growth of the Soil (Knut Hamsun) a few
years ago and has become a strange favourite. I also like to read
dystopian/political sci-fi novels like those of Aldous Huxley and
Yevgeny Zamyatin and love the work of Rene Daumal, namely A Night
of Serious Drinking.
I like to read non-fiction and have an interest in Anarchism,
Absurdism and Situationism. Life changing book - The Revolution of
Everyday Life by Raoul Vaneigem (great man).
My taste in films varies with my mood and state of mind (which is
forever changing). I like a variety of art-house/existential films,
sci-fi and everything in between and either side. Some favourite
filmmakers are Lynch, Kubrick, Akerman, Tarkovsky, Kusturica,
Fassbinder, Linklater, Jodorowsky, Herzog, Gilliam and
I love music just as much as film if not more. I like a variety of
genres including rock, folk, reggae, dub, and electronica. Some of
my favourite artists are The Doors, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob
Dylan, Neil Young, Crosby Stills and Nash, The Kinks, Bob Marley
and the Wailers, King Tubby, Augustus Pablo, Groundation, Boards of
Canada, Nightmares on Wax, Lemon Jelly, Explosions in the Sky, Red
Sparowes, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, The Tallest Man on
Earth, Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains, The Black Lips, The
Black Keys etc etc.
I have been vegetarian for three 1/2 years and since then have
become quite a decent chef. I like to cook curries, risotto,
chilli, Mexican food, Tagines and loads of nice flavorsome food.
