joined the u.s. centers for disease control and prevention last year after 20 years w/ the environmental protection agency. i had a really good run at epa, but needed a change. the only other thing i could see myself doing is teaching kindergarten.
i'm someone who is governed by very strong convictions, once ran a marathon just to see if i could, has a country music addiction, can't sleep w/out a fan on, is not competitive, watches just 2 hours of TV a week, and doesn't believe everything happens for a reason. i'm best friends w/ a straight guy, have a famous younger brother, hate gratuitous violence but love tarantino, think the beatles is the most overrated band ever, and am genuinely one of the happiest people i know. my biggest flaw is probably my noticeable discomfort when receiving gifts and compliments.
i enjoy traveling the farthest reaches of the planet and do so every chance i get. past jaunts have taken me from sydney to st. petersburg, hong kong to helsinki, amsterdam to amman. most recently, a buddy and i spent a month backpacking thru japan, vietnam, cambodia, and disappointing thailand. possibly being sent to either south africa or namibia on a 3-mo. CDC assignment next year.
i'm grateful to have been in love twice, particularly when there are good, deserving people who live out their entire lives and never get to taste it. the 2 relationships were incredibly fulfilling and i'm still close friends w/ both men. in fact, 1 of them and i recently went spring skiing for the 2nd year in a row.
looking for the proverbial boy next door. someone who's MASCULINE, monogamous, isn't into "the scene," recycles, enjoys the great outdoors, leads a healthy lifestyle, and has clean fingernails and nice teeth. someone capable of communicating on the hard stuff and willing to work through any bumps along the way, rather than walk out on an otherwise promising relationship. someone who has the capacity to love another person back.
