My self-summary
Essays suck. Everyone agrees on that, right?

I've had a bad habit of dating girls with issues; lots of lies and other stresses have been thrown at me over the years. As such, I'm a bit reserved and careful. I don't necessarily know what I want right now, but I am looking to get close to someone.

My profile is a lot to read and it's kind of outdated. I haven't had a chance to fix it up and trim it down so I recommend learning about me the old-fashioned way.

As a "P.S." to that I'd like to say you should message me first. I'm not afraid to do the "traditional" thing and initiate contact but it's a huge turn-on when the girl does so.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently in between jobs (I know that's a lousy, generic excuse) thanks to a shoulder injury that made me unable to continue working for my previous employer. This year I plan to go back to school for business; the one sure thing I know about my future is that I want to work for myself. I've always dreamed of opening my own bar/grill so that's ideally where I would like to end up eventually.
I’m really good at
I'm good at being intelligent. I spell well and I know a lot of random facts about a lot of random things.

I write and perform hip-hop. If you are one of those people who think "rap isn't music" then move on because we most likely won't get along. Lyricism is just that no matter how it's delivered.

I have never given a back and neck massage that didn't result in satisfaction so I guess that's something.

Oh, and making lists. I have a touch of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder so I tend to like things organized, symmetrical, notated, and the like. You'll see that in my "books, movies, shows, music, food" section. If you're into guys who like lists then it's your lucky day!
The first things people usually notice about me
People always notice my personality because it only has two real settings; when I first meet someone I may be shy and reserved but once I'm comfortable I'm always joking around and making people smile. I'm proud of the good sense of humor I've had since I was a kid.

People also tend to feel comfortable around me even without knowing me for long. I'm a trustworthy person, so much so that it shows.

As for physically, I often get complimented on my eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Note: I warned you ahead of time but this section goes into a LOT of detail. If you're not interested in my extensive lists then skip this!

Books
Fantasy and certain varieties of non-fiction hold my attention best. I don't read nearly as much as I would like to. At the beginning of 2013 I planned to read one book per week for the entire year... I lasted two weeks.
Fantasy
Bartimaeus Trilogy
Harry Potter series
Other
Comic books/graphic novels

Movies
I enjoy psychological thrillers the most, and other "weird" stuff. Mainly it has to make me think for me to really enjoy it. For example, Fight Club is hands-down my favorite movie of all time and this website has given me hope: there ARE girls that have seen it and like it! Anyway, nearly any movie that's worth sitting down and watching is okay with me. You pick!

Breaking Bad may very well be my favorite show of all time, I can't wait for it to come back on. Currently watching Sons of Anarchy from the beginning because I'm late. There's a LOT of different shows I've caught up on or started watching on Netflix.

Music (again... this is under construction haha)
I'll listen to literally any kind of music. I try to keep my ears open and hear as much as possible. I write and perform music myself and it's a huge part of my life. Being as that's an important part of my life, it may be a problem if you don't appreciate the genres I love. I mostly listen to hip-hop but I'm a punk rock guy at heart. I used to do background vox for a hardcore band but my voice suffered and now I only rap.

Food
Not sure why this is lumped in the other four but okay... Food is a passion of mine, I like a lot of different kinds but I do tend to shy away from most foreign dishes. Cooking is something I love to do, tweaking an entree to make it just right is a great feeling to me. Maybe I can cook for you sometime!
The six things I could never do without
This is my original, boring response to this prompt:
1. Music.
2. Netflix.
3. Mary Jane.
4. Sunlight.
5. A human companion.
6. Water would be nice, I suppose.

However, after reading a lot of girls' profiles and seeing some far more interesting answers, I decided I'd switch mine up.
1. Friendship and companionship: Maybe just a handful of close friends. However it's arranged, I want at least one partner (romantic or otherwise) to keep me company and make good conversation.
2. Art: In general. If I had to be more specific it would certainly be music, but life without the many vast varieties of beautiful art would definitely be more dismal.
3. Nature: Again, I took one of my boring answered and broadened it to encompass a bit more. The plants, weather, and animals are spectacular to me and it would be a shame if I couldn't enjoy them anymore.
4. Intelligence and sanity: I don't think it's being selfish to wish that I would always have these two things.
5. Food: I've always been curious as to whether or not I could survive the hunter-gatherer lifestyle, but I'm not too proud to admit that I would definitely suffer without some of my grocery store favorites.
6. Love: This sort of runs parallel to number one, but spending the rest of my life alone would definitely be pretty awful. It would certainly be nice to have a lover.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A quote I found on a girl's profile here from an artist I truly admire, Henry Rollins:

"I want a soul mate who can sit me down, shut me up, tell me ten things I don’t already know, and make me laugh. I don’t care what you look like, just turn me on. And if you can do that, I will follow you on bloody stumps through the snow. I will nibble your mukluks with my own teeth. I will do your windows. I will care about your feelings. Just have something in there."
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, as I write this it is a Friday night, so I guess that's my answer embarrassingly enough!

Nearly every weekend I try and fail to make plans with friends so lately I've been doing a lot of things on my own. The people I hang out with are unreliable so I'm often stuck going it alone. Maybe this is where you come in?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
That I actually pay for the "A-List" subscribtion on this site... haha!
Other than that... well, why not ask me yourself? I'm not too shy.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–99
  • Near me
  • For long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Well, it seems very rare for women to send the first message so perhaps this section should be "Why you should reply to MY message" haha. I'm sure my profile isn't particularly exciting but, really, how much can you get out of these simple essays? Don't ever judge a book by its cover, you should at least read the synopsis. :)
