My self-summary
I'm a poet. My writing is very diverse. I go to open mic poetry readings and occasionally participate in poetry slams. I try to have new pieces for the open mics I attend frequently so this keeps my writing fresh. I find poetry readings a lot of fun and would rather attend a reading then go dancing at a club or participate in karaoke. I'm not really a bar person. I make no apologies for what I say in my poetry and I don't write for children so keep that in mind if you want to see my work. I love to read both books I've been a practicing witch for over 10 years. I have a twelve year old son who lives with me. I love to talk about literature and the best way to get anywhere with me is to stimulate my mind.

I am intense, quirky, and loquacious
What I’m doing with my life
I just graduated from UCSC with a BA in Literature with an emphasis in creative writingpoetry. I also take care of my son.
I’m really good at
Writing poetry. Interpreting books and dreams. I love symbolism and pulling stories apart. I want to teach literature and creative writing at the college level. I've been know to make people laugh and cry when I'm performing poetry on stage. I'm more comfortable with a microphone than I am in a party atmosphere. I'm pretty good at tarot cards too. I've blown some people away. I've been told I should open a foot massage/tarot card reading parlor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm short but my most distinctive feature is that I have a weird laugh. In fact it's the second most famous laugh in the L. A. poetry scene.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books? Too many to count. I guess my favorite book of all time would have to be Biting the Sun by Tanith Lee there is a story behind it and if you like to know just ask. Another of my favorites is Wicked by Gregory Maguire. I have a signed copy and when I met him he commented on my laugh. I really enjoy fantasy and sci-fi books. A few authors that are particular favorites are Ursula K. LeGuin, Neil Gaiman, Sarah Waters,Charles de Lint, Mercedes Lackey, and Robin McKinley. Most of her novels are in the young adult section of the book store but I have to admit that I enjoy the luscious language of Francesca Lia Block. I also enjoy poetry. Two of my favorite dead poets are Sappho and Anne Sexton. A few of my favorite living poets are Brendan Constantine, Shira Erlichmen, Andrea Gibson, Teka Lark-Lo, Mindy Nettifee, and Buddy Wakefield. Plus anyone who makes me feel like I want to wrap myself up naked in their words.I also collect signed books and chap books]. I love to take a book home after a reading and flip back to the signature, it gives me a thrill. Some of the signatures are really awesome feel free to ask me about my most recent favorite.
Favorite movies? I like indie flicks, movies with gay and lesbian themes, morbid movies, dark comedies, tear jerkers, surrealism, films ripe with symbolism, anything that's really well written, and movies that make you think. I have a lesbian movie collection that I'm looking to expand. If you want to know specifics ask.
Favorite Music? I don't really listen to much music although my friend Lexi got me into Ani di Franco.
Favorite Foods? My favorite food is sushi. I love food. A good meal and a good conversation are almost as good as a good book.
The six things I could never do without
1. Poetry Readings and other spoken word events.
2. Books.
3. Good Conversation.
4. Friends.
5. My son.
6. Weirdness.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to dinner with my son, at home reading, or online.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I forgot how much I enjoy being touched. I was recently reminded and spent a whole afternoon just cuddling with a friend.

You are an intelligent, creative person. If you like to talk about books. Or if you write maybe we could exchange poems sometime. If you are unwilling to live your life on anyone else's terms but your own. If you think we might have something to talk about. If you find my profile interesting. Or if you know and love the Pasta King. Or if you think you have a better worst date ever story than I do.
