My self-summary
I'm a percussionist, and am very involved in music, let it be playing, performing, listening to, whatever. Just kinda getting through life.

I love live music, craft beer, good movies and music, and doing anything outdoorsy in Austin! Kayaking on Lady Bird Lake is a big favorite of mine. Or, exploring any part of Austin/the hill country. This place is far too beautiful to not experience the amazing sights!

I'm terrible at talking about myself though! If you wanna know anything else, feel free to ask :)
What I’m doing with my life
I moved here in August to student teach, and absolutely fell in love with Austin. I graduated from Texas Tech this December with a degree in music education, so I love to teach anything music/percussion related. Before Austin, I was up in Lubbock...and I couldn't wait to get out. Austin is definitely my home now :)
I’m really good at
I don't know? This seems like an awkward section to brag about yourself in. But I guess...music, drums, umm, I really don't know. Being an OCD clean freak maybe. I'm pretty good at that.
The first things people usually notice about me
How loud or how quiet I am. Depends on who you are. Who knows what side of me you'll get!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
For books...hmm. I like classical literature a lot. Les Miserables is great. Tale of 2 Cities. Life of Pi. Any Tim O Brien novel (The Things They Carried is AMAZING). I dunno. Vonnegut is also quite fantastic.

Movies...hmm. Garden State is probably one of my favorites. Jurrasic Park, Stranger Than Fiction. Shawshank Redemption. Forrest Gump. I like the classics a lot obviously.

Shows...oh god. So, so many. Breaking Bad, Homeland, House of Cards, Walking Dead. Love comedies too, like It's Always Sunny, How I Met Your Mother, Parks and Recreation, Scrubs.

Music, a lot of stuff. Very into classical obviously as I'm a music major. Jazz is great, I'll never pass up some Coltrane. I've kinda been on an indie music binge recently. Walk The Moon, Built To Spill, Minus the Bear, Modest Mouse, all great bands. I like chill music too. Radiohead, Jason Mraz, Regina Spektor, Death Cab for Cutie, Mumford and Sons, Incubus, Feist, Dave Matthews, Dear and the Headlights. Oh and Lydia. Big list.

Food...I dunno. I'm very, very picky. I like American food, mexican food, Italian. Lasagna is awesome.
The six things I could never do without
-my iPhone
-music with good headphones to listen to it with
-My Camelbak water bottle
-clean socks
- organization
-drum sticks or mallets
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Who my real self is. Who I really am. Deep stuff. Or sometimes nothing. I love shutting off my brain too.

A quote from my favorite movie Garden State sums up what I think about quite a lot:

"You'll see when you move out. It just sort of happens one day, one day and it's just gone. And you can never get it back. It's like you get homesick for a place that doesn't even exist. I don't know maybe it's like this rite of passage, you know. You won't have this feeling again until you create a new idea of home for yourself, you know, for your kids, for the family you start. It's like a cycle or something. I miss the idea of it. Maybe that's all family really is. A group of people who miss the same imaginary place."
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on what I'm feeling. Maybe out with some friends at a bar, drinking some craft beers. Maybe a small houseparty, maybe staying in alone watching movies. That last one has been a popular choice as of recently.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I kissed a girl for the first time when I was 20. I totally missed her lips completely, and kissed her forehead because my eyes were closed. Yeah, I'm smooth.
