idealistic, reserved, and reliable
My self-summary Propose an edit
I've been thinking lately that my profile sounds too poetic. I'm
not really a poetry sort of guy. In fact, if I see poetry on
someone else's profile, I usually just skip that part unless it
immediately looks to be very cute, romantic or endearing.
I'm an honest person. I very much dislike lies and broken promises.
I also dislike people who believe they have to say the words "I
promise" before they are in any way obligated to do what they say.
I can come off as being rude or uncaring because I will always tell
the non-adulterated truth in a mater-of-fact manner, if prompted to
do so. Generally, I will not volunteer a "truth" that I don't think
will have a positive impact, however. I will also refuse to answer
questions that I don't believe are within my rights to answer.
Details about others' private lives, for example.
I am a private individual. I do not make friends easily, and I do
not actively seek to do so for the most part. Getting me out of my
home requires the use of some sort of crowbar, and even if you
succeed, I will try to home in on more isolated areas of wherever I
happen to have been dragged, avoiding social contact whenever
possible. I rarely initiate conversation, but may if I suspect that
someone is in need of assistance. When speaking, I am brief, but
polite. At least I think I'm being polite.
I am not Christian. Most likely if god is the most important thing
in your life, I won't like you much, though exceptions do exist, so
this isn't a hard rule. You can probably identify yourself as an
exception if you read the previous sentence and did not find
yourself bothered by it. Incidentally, I do listen to religious
solicitors who drop by my home on occasion. They do not seem to
mock my beliefs, so I do not see any reason not to listen to
theirs.
My belief system is pretty simple. If one does something to benefit
others, then they're doing a good thing. If one does something they
expect will harm others, then it is a bad thing. Doing things
solely for yourself, but which are not expected to harm others is
neither good nor bad. Note that the actual action taken is
inconsequential and only the intention matters. Good people are
good because they want to do good. Doing good deeds as heaven's
price of admission is not good in my book.
I am a forgiving person. If you somehow make me angry a timely and
sincere apology will immediately resolve the situation in most
cases. If I say you're forgiven, or that "It's alright" then
everything is resolved in its entirety, and I'll forget all about
it. This goes double if the error in question was performed while
trying to do me a good turn. If you offered to make me breakfast,
and accidentally burned down my house, I could probably forgive
that. That would still really suck, though, so I hope nobody tries
to test that.
I am an unforgiving person. If not done within a reasonable amount
of time, an apology may do no good. If I believe that someone has
harmed me on purpose, I will probably never forgive them, even
though I would like to be able to do so. As for what constitutes a
reasonable period of time for an apology, it's pretty generous.
We're talking weeks or months.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I live my life in a leisurely way. I do not have a "good job", and
I have no desire to get rich. I appreciate the boring status quo
and plenty of free time. Because it interests me, I study Japanese.
This isn't for school, or job purposes, and I have no one to be
responsible to but myself for my progress or lack of. I am quite
self motivated to learn and for no more purpose than just to know
stuff.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I am a good mediator and problem solver. I try to find solutions
that are right for the person I'm advising rather than what I would
do myself. I acknowledge that everyone is different in their
strengths and weaknesses and try to cope accordingly. I am also
good at doing boring stuff due to being highly resistant to
boredom. I keep good records, and track expenses to the penny
because the software I use won't allow me to track fractions of a
cent.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
People notice that I write very, very small, and that's when I'm
writing normally. When people ask "Why do you write so small?" they
give me a blank look when I tell them this is how I normally write.
Maybe it's because I hold the pencil so close to the end, but I
don't know. It comes in handy, though, for writing Kanji.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit
I don't usually read for fun. I read for the know how. I'm the
first to know how to properly operate whatever electronic equipment
makes its way into the house. I also read about c++ programming and directx tutorials. The internet
provides me with a great deal of information on demand, and thus it
is usually the subject of my perusal.
I have watched the Star Trek movies with interest, and I
enjoyed some of the older Disney films like The Lion King. I tend not to go to
movies, though.
Lately I've gotten a ton of anime soundtracks. So many it is very
hard to pick just a few as favorites. I judge my music on
individual merit rather than by metrics such as artist. Every disk
I own is shuffled into one gigantic playlist that repeats forever.
I tend to like stuff that is soothing or upbeat with either
"impending doom" or "good guys kicking ass" overtones. I enjoy a
good many "feel good" songs from Japan. At least 90% of the vocal
tracks I listen to are in Japanese.
I don't eat for pleasure, but I have been known to OD on chocolate milk and
orange
poppyseed cake. Pizza is pretty good too.
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
I can do without just about anything. I like computers, but I don't
need them. I suppose, since I'm curiosity driven, I can't do
without new things to learn about. I also seem to need someone
around to look out for me. I tend not to take good care of myself.
Especially in the eating department. My cooking skills are quite
lethal. I have killed several pans in addition to the once edible
food placed within. Possibly worse is that I don't even like to
eat. (Perhaps because I make nothing good?)
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
I'm not sure I spend a lot of time on any particular topic these
days, but my mind is usually spinning on something. I suppose
Japanese has dominated as of late due to my upgraded internet
connection and the piles of anime I can watch. Also, writing Kanji
is pretty tough and mentally retracing them whenever you happen to
think of it seems fairly helpful. I tend to worry a bit about
people who I've seemingly ticked off because I am the way I am. I
don't like to tick folks off.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
I typically don't do anything special on any day of the week.
Talking to people I don't know causes me a lot of stress, so I
avidly avoid the usual activities people print here. If I do get
out, and this applies to any day of the week, I like to walk, and I
like to bike around some. Other than that, I sometimes have a
project I'm working on. Usually that's a computer related project
like setting up some sort of service, but I've been known to work
on card games, too. I play video games in short bursts now and
then. They're a nice break when my other projects hit a wall.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I wish the style of anime clothing would catch on in the real
world. Girls would be so cute with a few extra ribbons and a pair
of mary janes. The thought of wearing a cape also sounds pretty
good to me.

If you're studying Japanese, and want someone to study with, or
belt out random sentences to, I'm all for that.
If you're a nice, quiet, shy person who is always trying to make
others happy, but wishes people would take more notice of you, then
please say hello. I like those people the best.
