My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Do you enjoy the outdoors? Some kind of an adventure, large or small? Skiing, cycling, hiking, boating? How about spending the evening with good friends, good conversation and good food? Are you open-minded and curious? Are you able to enjoy intelligent films and books as well as summer blockbusters and best-sellers? Are you as comfortable in a quiet fine art museum as in the roaring stands of a top-ten college football game? If the answer to all of these is "Yes" then we would likely get along.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Collecting public opinion data for a non-profit that is involved in just about everything.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Skiing, cycling (mountain and road), sailing, cooking (some things). Yes, I do have some other skills.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have no idea. Asking my friends seems a little self absorbed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Too many books and authors to mention but here is a sample: Carl Sagan (esp. Demon Haunted World), John Steinbeck, Hunter Thompson, Singer, Kozinksky, Bret Harte, Tony Hillerman, lots of popular fictional authors like: Clancy, Crighton, Hiaason, Koontz, Frank Herbert, Anne Rice. For non-fiction I lean toward science, especially astronomy, cosmology, physics (sorry not gonna debate the Higgs discovery, seems like the evidence is in, besides, the math is beyond me) and popular economics. For flights I like The Best American Science and Nature series (and the Short Stories series, Essays series and occasionally one other series).

Music, so many different artists and styles. A quick glance at my iphone: Big Head Todd, Pink, Buffett, Dylan, Last Train Home, Sting, Tom Petty, Jewel, Norah Jones, NIN, Rammstein, Madonna, Stones, Black Keys, Natalie Merchant, U2, Eagles, Zepplin, and many many more. Also, dance and electronica in playlists marked "tempo, spin, grind and steep" (cyclists and spinners will understand), some classical and folk, a little country and bluegrass, some world music. Oh yeah, if you are one of those classical or opera snobs who complains that Carmen and Butterfly are cliche I don't care, the arias still launch my mind, my heart and my soul.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The love of my two kids; Skype (kids are in Colorado); helmet, skis, boots and poles; at least two bikes (fat and skinny); mountains, snow, gravity, water and wind; coffee, Gatorade, Diet Coke and sturdy IPAs; sunny days and big dumps (that's snow dumps). Obviously I don't like the limit so I will add more here.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How American citizens can reclaim control of the political and policy-making processes from the stagnation caused by the Republican Party selling-out to intolerant minority special interest groups.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Typical of so many others on OKC - dinner with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I occasionally write poetry (really bad poetry) because of a secret desire to write (really good) blues tunes. (Shhh, don't tell anyone or I'll have to leave my dog at your place and jump the midnight train out of town.) The troubling thing is that I am exceptionally ill-equipped for the blues; no hat, no sunglasses, don't smoke and a life experience that doesn't lend a clue. Did I mention that I don't play an instrument? Yeah, well that explains why I've been keeping this a secret.
