These are all things I enjoy. I do however have shockingly bad
memory recall so whilst I might remember you telling me 5yrs
previously that you prefer Sprite over Seven Up, don't ask me
details on what I just watched or read.
I re-read books often, especially those I enjoy (not so surprising
I guess) as I'll usually discover something different with each
reading however sometimes it's that a once 'favourite' book is
demoted to plain old 'good'. I spend a chunk of my pay at the Folio
Society building my retirement library.
I appear to be having readers block but I'm still buying books with
the intention of reading them sometime soon. I will, eventually. I
find I can't concentrate on audiobooks but have been known to read
along to them most recently Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (unlikely
to watch the recent remake as i can't imagine anyone but Alec
Guinness as Smiley)
I'm not an obsessive movie fan, tho trying to watch more. Seldom
dislike anything featuring John Cusack, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro,
Audrey Hepburn, Meg Ryan or Jodie Foster. I favour comedy, good
drama & thrillers. Not a fan of horror. I do have a weakness
for the work of Tim Burton, Withnail & I, Spaghetti Westerns,
Disney and Bollywood.
TV shows I watch via computer are; Dexter, Breaking Bad, NCIS, How
I Met Your Mother, The Newsroom, House, Modern Families, Burn
Notice and Arrested Development. Haven't had 'regular' tv for
around 9 years now. I don't think I'm missing much if work
colleague's conversations are anything to go by.
One thing I do enjoy is stand-up comedy, watching not performing
(obviously!) I'm a huge fan of George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Richard
Herring, Stewart Lee, Lucy Porter, Sara Pascoe & Tiff Stevenson
BUT i don't like Shappi Khorsandi, just can't find a chuckle
anywhere and goodness knows I've tried.
Pretty much like any music (not 'all music' but I believe in giving
everything a go), especially live. Doesn't matter if it's stadium
rock or a duo in the back of a coffee shop, live music is good
(even the not so good stuff) I've very eclectic taste which ranges
from 'classic' rock to drum and bass, classical to hip hop, jazz to
rai and everything in between.
At the moment my iPod has lots of Frightened Rabbit, Eels, Pearl
Jam, The National, Mark Lanegan, Leonard Cohen, Louise Attaque,
Band of Horses and Disturbed interspersed with random stuff from
the collection. I still buy CDs and I've just acquired a record
player but I'm wondering whether I can afford a vinyl addiction...
I will say if your favourite band is The Carpenters we're unlikely
to gel as I loathe them, especially Carol's voice. For a better
insight I should probably just direct you to my Last.fm
, just pretend you didn't see all that Neil Diamond
As for food i probably only draw the line at eating anything that's
still alive (except oysters) when entering my mouth, a fussy eater
I am not. With the exception of cottage cheese...LOVE cheese
(especially when crammed into cheesecake!) but not the cottage
variety, not even the pineapple infused kind!
