My self-summary
I've spent a couple years being a near hermit but finally decided to abandon that rut.

I call it:
Jim 2.0 : Furnish the house like an adult; find a sustainable diet; lose weight; spend more time in the outside world; achieve my writing/film goals.

I'm easy-going. I like shoes.

The Nice Guy appellation has a well-deserved negative, pathetic, needy connotation. I'll go with Mature Respectful Guy who doesn't like mind games and drama.

I'm a Season Subscriber to the Broadway in Atlanta series at the Fox and several local theater companies. That fact alone probably tells you a lot about who I am.

I don't care about any of the SportsBalls, although I enjoy sports talk radio. I'm fascinated by people talking passionately about things I could not give one fuck about. See also: the WSB garden & fishing shows.

I discovered there's a place in Marietta that has Curling leagues, and I am totally going to get involved in that.

I keep coming up INTP for those who care about such things.
What I’m doing with my life
I make my living from boring computer systems architecture shit but have to admit it's pretty great for a day job.

However, my long-term goal is to get paid for writing, editing or producing. I've written, produced and directed some short films and have several feature specs in various stages of completion.

I'll be shooting a web series this summer. Go ahead - mark your calendar :)
I’m really good at
Self-deprecation. Geography minutia. Evaluating social situations that don't directly involve me. Empathy. Troubleshooting. That thing with the stuff.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have absolutely no clue, perhaps I should conduct a survey.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I voraciously devour culture, pop and otherwise. This will be a long list, as current as I last checked this section.

I like film, I love film, I want to make films. My influences include Steven Soderbergh, David Fincher, David Lynch, Whit Stillman, Spike Jonze, Neil Labute, Stephen Spielberg, Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Stanley Kubrick, James Cameron, Martin Scorcese, Coen Brothers, Hughes Brothers, the Wachowskis, David Cronenberg, Darren Aronofsky, Quentin Tarantino, PT Anderson, Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater, and on and on. I like good movies, bad movies, and weird movies. Popular movies, foreign movies, and old movies. I break them down, I rip them apart, and when something blows me away I despair that I'm never going to be that amazing.

Music: I'm still super into 90's alt rock (everyone loves what they listened to in high school / college, right?). Overall it'd be easier to list what I Don't like. I enjoy rap, rock, electronic, pop, indie...pretty much anything but country or world music.

TV is just as broad. I'm in a position to watch TV during some of my workday, so aside from candid reality shows I'm probably watching it. I watch all the "good" stuff but also enjoy Top Chef, Project Runway and The Amazing Race.

True Detective was fucking amazing. I'm currently super impressed with Hannibal, Bates Motel, The Americans and Archer.

In all that other spare time I read - here's a few authors from my Kindle library: Joe Abercrombie, Daniel Abraham, Raymond Chandler, Arthur C Clarke, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Justin Cronin, Jeffrey Deaver, David Eggers, Alex Garland, Lev Grossman, Peter F Hamilton, Robin Hobb, Charlie Huston, Stephen King, J.A. Konrath, Elmore Leonard, George R.R. Martin, Jack McDevitt, China Mieville, Naomi Novik, T.A. Pratt, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, David Sedaris, Charlie Stross, David Foster Wallace, Margaret Weis (and Hickman), Tom Wolfe.
The six things I could never do without
Assuming Maslow's needs are met,

The Internet
Comfortable sheets
Indoor Plumbing
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Unusual murders...
Meet cutes...
Dark secrets & bitter regrets...I write things.

Yeah, I know that was super twee & pretentious...I haven't thought of anything better yet.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching movies or reading or hanging out with friends, however I'm making a commitment to force myself to go out and be more social.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't really have a lot of secrets and tend to tell people whatever they might want to ask. Perhaps a lack o' shame?
You should message me if
I sound interesting and you want to know more.
