What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
1 Vital: I'm a good, loving father to my son having just finished a year of postgrad research at Yale (in far-too-far-away New Haven) and returned to be a team-leader at Google and live in the heart of San Francisco;

2 Crucial: I often teach Science and Math to economically and emotionally challenged public charter high school students;

3 I Did design/develop software systems, medical instruments and clinical information systems in a Fortune 500 company;

4 I Did co-found, manage (and ultimately sell) a small high-tech start-up in database management and artificial intelligence applied to research, health care and general business;

5 I Did practice and teach diagnostic & therapeutic radiology and imaging (some time ago) in a large urban medical center;

6 I Did serve the Clinton administration through the IEEE as chief Y2K web site designer, developer and coordinator;

7 I Did design & develop radiological, acoustic & thermographic imaging systems, including development of a more gentle and more sensitive yet selective multifunctional breast-cancer screening system (that could have made a real difference);

8 I Did fly F4s off CVA-64 as Naval Aviator in Vietnam in the '60s, then Did help found Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW);

9 I Do hope to find a bright, beautiful open-minded and open-hearted woman to be my love for the rest of our lives.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) To Love: that state of mind and heart where the happiness of another (my son, my friend or HER) becomes essential to my own;

2) To be Loved: to matter, to make a vital difference in HER life;

3) To be Different: to express & respect each other's uniqueness, to excel in our own individual qualities, to cherish our differences;

4) To be the Same: to be accepted by each other as worthy individuals, to be part of a shared home. a sense of community;

5) Music, actively producing or blissfully listening, in all its aspects and genres, instrumental, vocal, percussion, dance, rhythm, all;

6) Communication: knowledge, writing, poetry, expression, drama, all -- and that most total, intimate communication, between lovers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Human relationships, teaching emotionally disturbed kids, evolutionary biology, improvisational guitar arrangement, the role of strong emotions in the contexts of deep affections and in the perceived need for armed conflict, where relativistic quantum entanglement fits vis-a-vis cosmology, the origins and mechanisms of humor, Russian love poetry, unsolved problems in number theory, developing hybrid roses, creative sex in a context of lasting love, creative recipes, embyrological development in vertebrate evolution, science fiction, experimental aviation, ideas for peace and justice in the Middle East, origins of life on earth and its possibility elsewhere in the universe or multiverse.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
With friends -- couples, singles, both sexes, young & old -- at a restaurant or rally, play or movie, concert or club, lecture or party.

That's about it unless I'm traveling out of town or overseas.

But a Saturday night, though, might be substantially different.
With all day to shop & prepare to host a dinner party, we two might start with icy Cristal, some still-sizzling bruschetta and a succulent caprese salad (buffalo Mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes vinaigrette & fresh basil from my garden,) then move on to fresh haricot verte from the E.C. farmers' market, segue into never-frozen wild sockeye salmon basted with herbs and lemon in extra virgin olive oil, broiled in a remoulade of fresh dill, sour cream, fresh-cut chives from my garden and an orgasmic Chenin Blanc.

We might end the evening with a Grand Marnier soufflé with fresh blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and a few thinly sliced strawberries soaked all day in Cointreau & a nice creme anglaise -- or homemade lemon sorbet under berries if we're feeling healthy.

Of course, if You were that One Oh-So-Special Woman in my life...
mightn't we proceed directly to other, even sweeter desserts?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
OK, I confess: I am bit of a bigot -- in matters intellectual:
I believe Barack Obama's carefully considered content, correct
grammar
and complete sentences are not an elitist affectation
but an essential quality in any leader I would chose to follow.

And no matter how conventionally attractive a woman may be,
my lust will languish if she lacks innate curiosity, an open mind,
a playful, irreverent sense of humor and open, spontaneous enthusiasm in her words, deeds, and readily shared feelings.

I am strongly attracted to a child-like sense of wonder
in all the marvels and magic everywhere around us:
the beauty of the natural world we visit together
and the created pleasures of books and music,
food and drink, dancing and romancing,
theatre and film, friendship and fun.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
That about sums up what I'm looking for in a Life Partner --
the basic raw material and the willingness to be spontaneous
and creative with what you've got and with what you get.

But fully grown women and men (hopefully you, certainly me,)
don't fit quite so easily into neat little boxes.

At our ages we've been around enough to ask, want to know
and are willing to honestly answer "the Big Five Ws" --

WHO are You?
This NOT an easy question to answer honestly, as Freud noted:
"When man and woman make love, there are 6 people involved:
there's the woman she [truly] is, the woman she thinks she is,
the woman he thinks she is; [and] the man he [truly] is..." etc.

WHERE are You?
Not just on the planet (online chat and phone are fun
but if you're in Northern California we might extend
the connection to more senses) but where are you in
your life, your goals, your work, needs, community,
your dreams, your friends, your loves.

WHY are You here?
Not just here on the West Coast or here on-line seeking
Companionship, but here on Earth, being and doing.

WHEN are You?
Not how old in years, but cheers, fears, tears.
I've loved women 15 years older, 20 years younger,
women 70+ with the lust/laughter of 30-somethings,
and women of 40 with the wisdom/worldliness of 60+;
Sadly, I've also met the reverse.

WHAT are You seeking -- here and in life?
Chat is fun, humour is happy, sex is satisfying,
night-long lingering lust is sweeter still,
and life-long loving is best of all - but let's
leave that possibility for later and be friends now.
Among my past (sufficient) romantic companions
and fewer (not quite yet sufficient) true loves,
I've found our main erogenous zones to be between our ears
--and we learn from each other many, MANY others...
all equally delicious and delightful.

Yes, I realize this all sounds incredibly pompous,
perhaps pretentious, but of paramount Importance!

So "If music be the food of love -- play on!"

Music, Food, Love, Playing together? Definitely! --
But Game Playing? Only if they're honest, open
and mutually shared in sweet togetherness --
in the dark or in the day, with either of us on top
but neither of us on the bottom.

So again I Plead, Please -- let's get in touch soon --
honestly, sincerely and sensually.
