My Self-Summary
So... what am I looking for in a woman??? How the h*ll should I know? LOL. I'm 49 years old and still single. Married once. That marriage failed after five years and I went back to an old GF and we made it for twelve years... and I've been alone again these past five years and have not dated anyone longer than a month yet. I don't know what I'm looking for exactly. I decided to give astrology a shot and see if that would give me an edge. Thinking on past relationships, I've been sweet on a couple of Virgo women, who were really not into me. I lived with a Cancer woman for 12 years and we got along pretty well. I've dated a couple of Scorpio gals and we got along well, but they were both a little too wild for me, heh. I've been sweet on several Capricorn women, but they always end up breaking my heart. So what next? I don't know... I'm just stumbling thru life like everyone else.
When I originally took the OKC dating personality test, I tested out as "The Gentleman". I retook it later and ended up "The Loverboy". I just retook it again for fun and tested as "The Slow Dancer". Hm... interesting. I found that if I answer the two questions: "Have you done lots of kinky stuff", and "Would you like to?" with a YES, I show up as "The Gentleman". If I answer NO to both, I show up as "The Slow Dancer". But what I really wonder is, what do they mean by KINKY? I am NOT into BDSM etc... but I suppose I'm a little kinky in a normal sort of way, LOL.
I love horses and trailriding, and own a Clydesdale and a TWH.
I think of myself not as a cowboy , but as a horseman In my opinion, horses are pets, that can be ridden. Some horse folk have little personal contact with their horses, whereas for me, personal contact is much of the fun of owning a horse.
I'm a reasonable guy. Actually, I'm a NICE guy, but don't let that fool you into thinking that I'm a pushover, or a doormat. I don't solve problems with my fists, I solve problems with reason. If I'm pushed enough, I will react, but it'll be with words instead of violence. If we can't agree to disagree, then I'll go on my way and hope there are no hard feelings. In my opinion, violence is only needed as a last resort when there are no other options to preserve yourself or your loved ones.
Whatever I do, has to make sense to me. Any new endeavor I set upon, I must know all there is to know about it, and then figure out if a better way is possible. I'm not content to just accept whatever everyone else says about the subject. I have to KNOW for myself that what I'm doing is the best I can do.
I have a positive outlook on life, even though Virgo's are said to be negative. I was trained as a child to see my faults and try to overlook the negative. I don't always succeed, but I try my best to be positive. I am tied to nature. I am Gentle, yet strong. Sensual. I often think too much, but usually that's a good thing, as I think before I act. The downside to thinking before acting is, there are times when I might be insulted... and not fully take it in, till much later when I've had a chance to think over what was said to me. Then I will think of how to respond to the offense.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm content where I am at the moment, although I greatly miss having a woman to share my life with. Still, I try to have fun in life, be a good friend and take care of my pets. What's life about anyway if you don't try to enjoy yourself, while being responsible at the same time? I've known too many people who worked their asses off their entire lives, planning on what they were going to do when they retired... only to die soon after retirement... that will not be me.
NOTE: About online romance... meeting someone online instead of face to face, is VERY difficult. If you meet someone face to face, you know within a few minutes if you are attracted to them or not. It's more than physical appearance, it's that look in our eyes, facial expressions, smiles, body language, and how we sound. We get none of that here in this online world. It makes finding someone difficult indeed. That initial impression we get upon meeting someone in person is what's missing here. And there's really no way to resolve it. Even posting a video of yourself would only be a one-sided representation, and not reflect the interplay you have when you are face to face with another human being.
I'll probably have to take up horse camping or start going to muzzle-loading rendezvous again, or join the SCA again in order to meet a like minded lady -Face to Face- ... but just in case... I'll keep my profile here up... you never know do you?
I’m really good at
I'm a Jack of all trades, and a master of some. : )
I'm good with anything mechanical. I do most of my own repairs to my vehicles.
I'm a "slow man" who likes to take time, and enjoy lovemaking to it's fullest. I am not fond of "quickies".
I also require a relationship. So if you're looking for a f*ck-buddy, or a "friend with benefits", look elsewhere.

FOOD: Sushi. YUM. Otherwise, my food is simple. I do enjoy well cooked barbecue, especially Beef ribs. I like eating out at Chinese buffets and buffets in general. I love Mexican food. I'm easy to please food wise. I cook mostly simple stuff, although I've been making more complicated dishes lately and I'm becoming a better cook in the process.
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
You should message me if
What's your FIX???: Is your FIX... spending time with your horses??? With horses in general??? If your HIGH is being in CLOSE proximity with horses... then that is a BIG plus.
IF: You love horses.
IF: You live under 75 miles from me. I simply don't have much time or money for a long distance relationship much beyond 75 miles at this time... unless we really, REALLY match well. My max distance I'll travel would be 200 miles, but that's a stretch. I have to be realistic here and stick rather close to home, which is in Lowell, Indiana. 46356. I firmly believe it's necessary to meet in person within two weeks, a month at most, in order for a couple to see if there's any "chemistry" in order to go further towards a relationship.
IF: You're a woman who is a "one man woman", as I am a "one woman man".
I'm not the jealous type... but time has shown me that I do best with a single pair commited relationship.
IF: You can be a "Tomboy" at times. I can handle "Prissy" from time to time, but not all the time, LOL.
PS: For OKC users, new and old, please check out DCMerlin's Guide to OKCupid. His fine guide will help you get started out right in OKC or help you improve your profile even if you're an old hand. Thanks Merlin!
Why you ask? Because for instance, when you're doing the MATCH questions here on OKC, if you come across a question that doesn't have an acceptable answer listed... you should SKIP the question, because if you don't, it can greatly throw off your MATCH numbers. Also, did you know that answering "Irrelevant" means that you agree with ALL the possible answers? If you thought irrelevant meant that you didn't agree with ANY of the answers, this can greatly throw off your MATCH numbers. Another thing that can throw off the OKC software is how important you think an answer is, and how important you expect a potential matches answer to be. Key Questions? You need to be very careful which questions you set as KEY questions. Merlin tells you why in his guide. OKC is a LOT trickier than it first appears to be. If you want the best possible matches, then you have to answer the questions in the correct way. Reading Merlins guide will help a LOT. After reading Merlins guide, I erased all six hundred of my questions and started over. I am now confident that my profile here is set up the best way possible.

Another aspect of my personality is that I am perfectly capable of entertaining myself. The vast majority of people on here do not read profiles, they simply look at pictures (which makes OKCupid's demands of continually writing more in here a little off the hook--less is better, it might get read--to much is rambling...like this). So, I guess you should Email me if you actually read this paragraph. To prove my point, if you read this paragraph and Email me, please put in the email "IN RESPONSE TO YOUR PROFILE I READ IT". And yes, there is a method to my madness. I posted this newest bit of insanity all the way at the bottom of my profile, so you must be an avid reader (especially when OKC constantly demands I add more to my profile) to have gotten this far!!
