My self-summary
I love San Francisco and am proud of having been born here, although I was raised in Michigan. I like to think I combine Midwestern kindness with West Coast values. I'm passionate about good food, smart people, and interesting reads. I spend a lot of time with my running club marveling at the views and complaining about the hills. I like a man who's bold enough to sing in the shower.
What I’m doing with my life
I work hard, I exercise a lot, I sing frequently, I laugh loudly and often, and I prioritize the people who are important to me. I'm working on that work-life balance thing, and I'm hoping to run a sub-6-minute mile sometime in the next year.

My dream job involves reading books on the beach, but I'm not sure I can convince anyone to pay me to do that.

This past November, I meant to run the NYC marathon, but ended up volunteering on Staten Island instead. I still managed to run 18 miles that day, several of them while hauling non-perishable food and baby wipes to flooded neighborhoods.

I'm hoping to travel more frequently. Any suggestions for destinations?
I’m really good at
Cooking and baking. I have a stand mixer and I'm not afraid to use it. Singing. Running long distances (I ran a 3:23 marathon last year and am currently training to run Boston in April). I'm good at my job, although I'd like to be good at my job for slightly fewer hours per week. I give great advice. I'm good at barre-based exercise classes and yoga (I'm pretty bendy).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm happy. I'm tall with even taller hair. I love to laugh. I sometimes sing while I'm talking.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food: Brussels sprouts with sage, brown butter, and garlic, lasagne, spicy tofu green curry, ice cream, summer fruits, anything involving paneer, butternut squash, aged hard cheeses, burritos.
Books: Unaccustomed Earth, Calvin and Hobbes, just about any well-written book about disaster or disease (Into Thin Air, Spillover), Possession (A.S. Byatt), Pride and Prejudice, anything by David Sedaris. I like to delve into longer literature on vacation, but I'm not above a trashy magazine on the airplane.
TV shows: Arrested Development, Deadwood, Mad Men, Revenge, Community.
Movies: The Princess Bride, Star Wars (only episodes IV-VI, obviously).
Music: I love music from bad pop to classical, and nearly everything in between. I sing in a choir, which is responsible for a lot of my nerdier musical obsessions.
The six things I could never do without
My running shoes, family, trips to the farmer's market, good books, great friends, and red wine.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How lucky I am to live in San Francisco among great friends, delicious food, interesting things to do ranging from Bay2Breakers to the opera, and long runs along the Bay. Also, will global warming make San Francisco weather better or worse, and, either way, will I have rent controlled beachfront property?
On a typical Friday night I am
Grabbing a drink (and, let's be serious, probably nachos too) with friends after a busy week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm still not really sure how this online dating thing is supposed to work.

you can drive in the snow, know how to make a camp fire, and don't balk at a night at the symphony. I'm 5'10", so I like men who are 5'11" or taller.
