I am short, blue-eyed, and funny..

My Self-Summary

Thanks for reading my profile! I want to meet someone less than a half hour drive from me but wow there sure are a lot of cute guys in Virginia I'm not going to contact. I find it easier to answer the never-ending questions than it is to think of something clever to write about myself. I've answered 3000 of the questions but admit that I checked the "I don't care" button on most of them.

Okay, I know this sounds dorky but I want to fall in love. When I hear about an event in the future, I hate not knowing if it will be possible for me to find a date for it (buy 2 tickets) or if I must go alone. I'd like to have someone to cuddle with by my fireplace. If it starts snowing out and I feel happy about that, I want to have someone to call to tell. If I occasionally go to a movie, I want to be with someone who wants to hold my hand. When I drive home from somewhere alone at night I want to think there is someone who actually cares if I got home safely.

Even though I don't like to travel and don't want to leave my dog, I want someone who will talk me into trying. I don't like to drive more than 1/2 hour so it is really a big deal to me to find someone who lives close to me. I want someone to decorate my Christmas tree with, go somewhere with on New Year's Eve, even if it's only out to dinner so we can be back home at midnight alone.

I want to go out dancing with someone I care enough about to not have any urge to dance with anyone else ever (have this dance for the rest of my life).

When I speak in song lyrics I want someone to know the next line. Or better yet, burst into song.

I want to have someone to think about first thing in the morning and last thing at night who will actually be thinking of me too if he's not already with me.

I want to take out of my vocabulary stupid phrases such as "this guy I'm not sure I'm dating". I want to have a real boyfriend and know it. I want to stop dating the wrong men. Are you the right one?

What I’m doing with my life

I'm worried that I've been letting my life just escape without accomplishing much since I retired 5 years ago from the Federal government where I worked for 37 years. Now I've caught the "got all day" syndrome and also this evil computer seems to suck up an amazing amount of my time. I don't have humans but I have a 5 year old Sheltie and 2 Ragdoll cats. So in a lot of ways it would probably be best for me to find someone who likes pets but doesn't currently have any. I walk every day with my dog, usually on the bike paths in Columbia, sometimes taking my camera with me to photograph nature.

I am a knitaholic and make all my own sweaters, hats, and other items to give as presents or occasionally sell such as baby outfits. What I really want is someone to knit for!

I try every day to conquer some of my clutter and freecycle is my new best friend.

I'm still searching for love.

I’m really good at

Knitting, recycling trash, being funny, identifying song lyrics from the 60s. I'm very unpredictable at bowling (tenpins). My average is about 136 but my lifetime high game is 192 and my recent low was 105.

The first things people usually notice about me

My sense of humor, my blue eyes, the fact that I'm apparently "different" from other women in an assortment of ways. I believe most women admit men are useful for many things but that they actually like women better to hang around, talk to, go places with. I don't. I've always liked boys best.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: I don't really read as much as I used to. I have read some fun mystery books that had knitting themes such as Needled to Death & Knit One, Kill Two. The book which has influenced me the most in recent years was What They Don't Want You to Know. It made me switch to buying mostly organic food and to try to stop eating things I can't pronounce. However, I won't give up my microwave (sorry Kevin).

Movies: I occasionally go to romantic comedies and other PG-13 chick flicks, although the holding your hand in the dark would be my favorite part.

Music: I love folk music, showtunes, music from the 60s & 70s, particularly the Beatles. I don't like jazz, am neutral towards Country, have been caught tapping my feet to Bluegrass, would much prefer music with words but could probably listen to Classical if you bribe me with dinner. Many extra points given to guitar and piano players.

Food: Italian food is my favorite, although I like Chinese too to a lesser degree. I don't eat much meat although I do get the urge every year to cook (& eat) chili during the first snowstorm of the year. Veggie pizza. Hot fudge sundaes.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

The fact that I need to be with humans more, especially a special man to cuddle with by my fireplace.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm proud of the fact that I gave my hair its freedom 5 years ago and am letting it be tweed (salt and pepper). Oh, and I hate the smell of coffee.

You should message me if

You like to dance, enjoy music, stop to notice nature, don't smoke, don't drink much (yes of course water is fine), would think it was the best present if I made you a sweater. I don't want to talk to you if you think foul language is fine or if you don't know the difference between there, their and they're as well as to, two & too. I prefer men who are 5 to 10 years younger than me but I do make exceptions. My special weakness is for men which blond hair (any amount of it including almost none), blue eyes and a well trimmed beard (2 out of 3?). I'm more attracted to men who drive manual transmissions, which is what I drive.
