-sarcasm/sincerity. namely our cultural obsession with wit and sarcasm are less indicative of the virtues of intellect and refinement than an inability to express and embrace the commitments of the sublime. we're so quick to mock and lampoon rather than engage flaws in earnest. if everyone swears they have such sharp wit, why then do they go about brandishing it like a blunt object?
