My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am flawed and I always will be, and so will you. And I’m not here to try to convince anyone that I am currently the best version of myself – I don’t know if I ever will be or have been, and I don’t think you need to be in order to find love. I am someone that is always engaged in trying to do this whole ‘life’ thing better – it’s hard. And I’m not looking for someone who thinks they’ve got it figured out already. I’m looking for people who are engaged in the process, like I am.

I'm tall and substantial, physically and otherwise. Artistic, sensitive, silly, and loving. I practice yoga and eat vegetables and chocolate. Not exclusively, and usually not together.

I just moved to Oakland in October and I'm so excited to meet people and get the lay of the land.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Looking for a job at an organization that promotes Girl Power (I like empowering young ladies to be badass and I wanna do it for a living).
Looking for an awesome communal living situation.

I was most recently a 7th grade Special Ed teacher in a Chicago Public School and am now moving on to the next phase. I spent my 20s as an actor, singer, writer, arts administrator, waitress, barista, figure model, assistant, after school teacher, early childhood music teacher, yoga instructor and temp, and then I taught full time for two years but decided that the classroom is not where I belong. I've come to realize that my strengths lie in relating to kids in a social/emotional context and I am contemplating my next move toward that end.

Things I’m REALLY into these days:

Elliott Smith
The Artist’s Way
Strangers No More podcast and the accompanying book – Embody: Learning to Love your Unique Body (And quiet that critical voice!)
Singing at The Alley
Sitting at cafes and drinking a lot of coffee
Shimmy Pop at Hipline
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
My friend Rebecca asked me for help drafting a letter of condolence the other day. "You're good at this sort of thing," she said. Who knew?
"Some people have a way with words. Some people...not have way." - Steve Martin

I'm strong, so I'm good at opening jars and moving heavy objects for my friends. Don't worry, boys. I still need your help (she said, batting her eyelashes) Some of you will likely be disappointed to hear that no, I will not beat the shit out of you. Sorry.

I can be a bit of a social butterfly, so I'll say that I'm good at working a room.

I love to sing and I'm getting better at playing the guitar - definitely looking to make more music in my life.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
People: I love your hair! Do you get that a lot??
Me: Yes, thanks!

People: How tall are you???
Me: 6'1!
People: Wow!
Me: Yeah!

For the record, this sort of attention does not bother me.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Nature (water, trees, fresh air)
Loved ones
Something to work towards
A different perspective

That's all I got for now.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to achieve balance in my life, and the many avenues through which it can be pursued.
How we are all so different and so much the same, and how confusing that can be.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Eating something, doing something, then going to bed.

But I mean - new city, new patterns. Maybe in Oakland I will be doing something, then going to bed, then eating something. Who knows??
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tired of dating. I've been single for a while.

Also, I'm working on being more forgiving of myself.

Wow - those are private! I recommend moving to a new city. It's very liberating.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're interesting, kind, thoughtful (as in, full of thoughts) attractive and funny. You're not afraid of feelings. Or maybe you are, but that doesn't keep you from feeling/thinking/talking about them. You're trying to be and do better. You're ready and looking for a partner that you can truly know and be yourself around. You want to share yourself, and be shared with.

I’m interested in people who know better than to say things like, “I’m looking for someone who takes care of themselves, physically and mentally,” when what they mean is, “I’m only attracted to thin women.” If that’s true, that’s great and I wish you the best of luck. I also hope you learn that being fat doesn’t mean you don’t take care of yourself, because if that’s what you believe, then I believe you have a very naïve and limited understanding of people. I also hope you don’t message me and say, “You don’t look fat” because I am fat and I don’t want anyone telling me that I should be ashamed of it. Fat can be really fucking sexy, especially if it’s attached to a person who is sexy. In my case, it is.

I'm also looking for friends! So if you really do think you are only attracted to thin women (or short women, or gentile women, or straight haired women or boring women) but you think I sound awesome and like we would make great friends, I would love to meet you even though your boner is limited. It doesn't make you a bad person.

Oh, and...if you don't somehow indicate in your message to me that you've really read my profile and jive with what I'm saying, I won't respond. Ain't nobody got time for that.
