My self-summary
OK, I'm a single dad, a writer, a "rennie", an anachronism, a performer, a drummer, an artist and a passionate romantic. I'm intelligent, witty, loyal, honest, affectionate, warm, compassionate, cuddly, creative, old fashioned and romantic but a little bit kinky and have even, on occasion, been called charming.
I'm better with a sword than a computer (literally).
See that word? "Romantic"?
Remember it... I'll come back to it later :p
I'm a dichotomy... an eccentric who thinks outside the box and yet a stable and responsible role model who puts the kid first.
I still believe in honour and chivalry and am disappointed when I see those values so disrespected and forgotten by so many.
I'm idealistic enough to know how the world should be but still pragmatic enough to deal with what it is at the moment.
I'm very likely unlike anyone you've ever met before...
I'm... me.

I have asked my friends to give me 5 adjectives they feel best describe me... and the 5 that were said the most were:
Intelligent
Charming (see? it happens... lol)
Passionate & Romantic (so they cheated and snuck 2 in 1)
Creative
Funny

So... there you go.
What I’m doing with my life
I keep myself busy. I always have something going on. Right now, I have a website AND am writing a spec fiction novel... one that hopefully will land me a very big book deal in the near future.
I'm not a really materialistic person, so if you are, we likely won't get along.. I enjoy and appreciate the simple joys in life.
Oh, and as I said... I'm a Rennie. That means I am one of those crazy folks who dresses up and goes to Renaissance Faires and has a great time. I play an Italian Count named Adolfo DiAmore. If you would like to come to one... perhaps we should talk!

Also, I think it wise to put it out there... again... just so I'm clear... I am not looking to leap into a relationship. I've done that... it doesn't work. A wise man once said that a strong house must have a strong foundation and such is true of relationships. This is why relationships based on looks don't work. A solid friendship, built on communication, trust and understanding makes the best foundation for a strong, lasting relationship. As I said, I've made this mistake before... and I believe in the old adage:
"if the dog bites you once, it's the dog's fault... but if the dog bites you twice, it's your fault"
So, if you're looking for a "quickie" or a whirlwind romance, pass me by.
I’m really good at
Writing, spelling (yes, I know they're from their from there, and your from yore from you're... and no, I have not made a spelling error when I type "favourite", it's the British spelling...) speaking, swordfighting (admit it, it's been awhile since you've met a swordsman) and being a dad. That last one is the one of which I am most proud.
I'm also The Horseman of Romance at Faire, so it's pretty obvious that I'm pretty good at being romantic...
(there is that word again... hmm...)

"Nessuna sfida non può essere soddisfatte con un smirk, una rosa e una a pinze..." ~ Il Conte Adolfo Ludovico DiCesare DiAmore, Cavaliere o Romanticismo
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, there's the fact that I'm very outgoing... loud, even... comes from performing without microphones. Big... 6'3 with broad shoulders, big hands and feet... helps to establish presence.
Oh, and then there's my accent, or rather, accents...
and perhaps that I smell like chocolate chip cookies?
Oh, wait... that's someone else.

Seriously, though, let me address something here:
I have ectrodactyly. That means I am missing fingers (my middles) and a few toes. I am NOT handicapped... indeed, with the exception of tying balloons, you'll find I can do everything you can do, some things better... AND some things that you can't.
I bring it up because some people are shallow and they get "freaked" and because of that, I'd rather they just, well, avoid me. Not worth the hassle.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favourite books are the ones with lots of words in them... especially the ones that tell interesting stories... though, pictures are good, too... especially if they're of pretty girls.
My favourite movies are the ones I either laugh, smile or cry from. The Princess Bride, Second Hand Lions, The Bucket List, Finding Nemo and Monty Python and the Holy Grail are amongst my favourites.
Musically, I am eclectic. I love classical, folk, soul, blues, jazz, rock, etc. but I don't listen to rap. Sorry, not my thing.
My favourite food... hmm... I am of Italian descent so anything Italian... especially Veal Parmagiana. I also love Chicken Kiev, a Philly Cheesesteak or stuffed mushrooms. Mmmm, thanks, I'm trying to lose weight, here, and now I'm hungry! Good thing I cook... maybe it's calzone time?
oh, and bake... ever have Italian Flag Cookies? Cannolis?
I'm learning some more, too. Never stop learning.
The six things I could never do without
1. Air. I need it to breathe. It's sorta a design flaw in me... can't function without air.
2. Water. This one I can go longer without but still have severe limitations.
3. Food. I can go even longer without food, but I still can't do without it.
4. My son. I can't even begin to tell you what a difference it's made in my life becoming a father. I'd have ten kids if I could afford them all. I'm not ruling out having more...
5. My family. I love my family. Even the crazy members. I'm sure they think I'm the crazy one... but what do they know?
6. My friends. I am lucky to be surrounded by some of the most amazing (and amazingly amazing) people...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Dimensionality.
Yeah... it's something to do with a novel idea I have... but currently have on the back burner. As I have said, I always have a lot going on. Hey, that being said... please forgive me if I don't get RIGHT back to you... the novel has me VERY busy recently. I apologize if I offended anyone.
Oh, and I spend a lot of time thinking about my son's education... and about Faire... and about ways I can fix up my ride... and how nice it'd be to have another hot rod... and how bad the economy has gotten and what it will take to fix it... and how different the night sky would look if we lived closer to the Galactic Center.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I am not working on my novel, I'm playing games with my son or singing Journey, Creed, Eagles, Nickelback, Lifehouse etc tunes... or if I "hear bells", I'm dancing around the living room singing Barry White to a karaoke CD or YouTube.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
On the internet, on a dating site? Nothing private.
Intimacy is... for intimate relationships. Letting someone in should be done when trust is established.
On here, the world can read it... so... I think the most private thing I'd admit is... I can be Googled!

... oh, and I sing Volare in the shower... in Italian...
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 27–41
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
you like Pina Coladas
and getting caught in the rain
and the feel of the ocean
and the taste of champagne
if you like making love at midnight in the dunes of the Cape :p

oh, and if you're real, fun, witty, cute, intelligent, adventurous, warm, loyal, honest and classy.
Quirky is great. I love quirky. Stupid, on the other hand... well, as Ron White says... you can't FIX stupid.
If you'd like to talk, chat, hang out, make a friend... with no pressures... experience new things... engage in meaningful conversations...
I'd love to hear from you.
Oh... I should add this... age is just a number. Some people I have met who are older than I am have the maturity of a 19 year old and others in their 20s are more mature than I am. I'm looking to make friends... so your age doesn't really matter for that. I'm not rushing into dating so... I believe the expression is "cross that bridge when I get to it"
