My self-summary
I'm basically an intellectual geek; I'd rather spend time working on an interesting project or reading a good book than wasting time and brain cells doing the bar-scene thing. The Myers-Briggs INTP classification fits fairly well: I'm usually friendly once approached, but not outgoing. Interests include Flight Simulator and Aviation in general, New Age Music, Mathematics, Science, and of course John Denver. I enjoyed Lord of the Rings, and am a Tolkien fan. (Languages are fascinating, I think; more so than people.)I'm interested in pretty much everything from Whalesong to Quantum Mechanics.

I'm a Libertarian, but vote Democrat -- and I get more liberal each year.

I am intellectual, introverted, and deep
What I’m doing with my life
Latest project is a homebuilt computer, built from scratch without a microprocessor.

I’m really good at
Math, science, PC hardware, Flight Simulator, etc.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have fairly long hair and tend to cultivate a unique look; sort of a cross between "Preppie" and "Hippie without the drugs". I despise Fashion in general, and have been known to wear socks with sandals because I enjoy it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Anything by Amir Aczel (science/math nonfiction); "Zero" by Charles Seife; anything by Tolkien; the "Recluce" series by L.E. Modesitt; Larry Niven's "Ringworld" series; pretty much anything by Arthur C. Clarke or Robert L. Forward. And many others. Dr. Roger Penrose's latest book is fascinating; I'm slowly reading it a page or two at a time...

Movies: The Princess Bride, of course! Also: Wargames, and any other movies that do a good job of dealing with aviation, space travel, and/or science. No "the-aliens-are-coming-to-get-us" movies, PLEASE! (I do own "Independence Day," mostly because it's a great home-theater-test DVD.)

Music: New Age; John Denver; Jim Croce; Tom Paxton; and pretty much anything Bach or earlier. I particularly like Rameau, Scarlatti, Pachelbel, Handel, and some Telemann. Mozart, Chopin, and Debussy etc are also good, depending on my mood.

Foods: SUSHI!! Everything else is just food. I plan on founding the "Northern wind" school of Sushi: NO spices, NO soy sauce; basically fish, rice, and nori.
The six things I could never do without
Flight Simulator, Sushi, books, privacy/solitude, my sweet wife Trang, and Buddy (my Basset Hound). Not in that order.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Many things. Including thinking about what I'm thinking about, at times. Or thinking about that. ("To know recursion, you must first know recursion!")
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading a book, working on a project, or listening to a whalesong CD I bought. (There's a language there; maybe someday we'll be able to understand it!)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm studying Engineering, but would like to be a fantasy/sci-fi writer someday.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–44
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You're interested in an intellectual, platonic friendship. (I already have a wonderful wife, thank you!) 8-)
