My Notes edit

My self-summary

Once upon a time, I had a self-summary that stretched on for way too long. No obvious summarization, too much self.

Here's my next (and possibly last) effort:

I am not you, I am not your ex, I am not your father, I am not your son, I am not your long lost woulda-coulda-shoulda, I am not someone just like me*, I am me.

I have good moods and bad moods. I enjoy many forms of music. I love to read fiction, and if you shove non-fiction in front my face, odd are, I'll read it too. I am fond of art. I enjoy writing.

*If you want to spend time with someone like me, there is a list of guys with similar statistics who are much prettier than me down the right hand side of this screen. If you are still interested in me, send me a message. We'll have coffee.

What I'm doing with my life

I work, I sleep, and occasionally, in between I spend time with friends.

UPDATE - Just got hired on by Hewlett-Packard as a FTE*: Managing an engineering team in a Microsoft datacenter.

*Full Time Employee

I'm really good at

I enjoy idle debate, the art of conversation, thinking around corners, and dreaming.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

I don't know. I haven't noticed myself for the first time since I was very young.

The six things I could never do without

Here are six things that make my life more bearable:

1) Entertainment I get this via TiVo, XM radio, my iPod Mini, Netflix, Baseball (I am a Giants enthusiast. I don't call myself a fan, mainly because I believe that sports are not worthy of fanatical devotion. Imagine a holy war over a bad call,) and the internet (Another source of entertainment, knowledge, connection to the world, and utility for self-expression.)

2) Culture/society (For example: art, food, music, literature, history, etc.)

3) Other people (Another wonderful source of entertainment, knowledge, culture, information, attention, drama, affection, etc.)

4) My towel If one can travel the length and breth of the galaxy and know where one's towel is, that's one hoopy frood. (I wish that this was originally my idea, but I saw it on someone else's profile. Maybe if I throw a SEP field around it, nobody will notice.)

5) My mind, (though people who know me claim that I've lost it years ago.) Without this, how could I contribute/enjoy to items one through four?

6) The possibility that there's something even more extraordinary than items one through five on this sad little list.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Narcissistically, I often think about my life, the people in it, my place in it, it's direction, etc.

I also think about the future, death as a motivator, the ineffable, humanity and man's fundamental loneliness, the oddities of the English language, the nature of happiness, beauty and how it is perceived, women, nature/physics/time, thought, things that make me laugh, and general BS.

On a typical Friday night I am

On a typical Friday night, I can often be found surfing the Internet, going for a walk in my neighborhood, relaxing/reading at a local coffee house, messaging some of my friends that are too far away to talk to in person, relaxing/reading in my home, or watching Sci-Fi Friday with some dear friends of mine.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I tend to not keep too many secrets of my own. I find that the truth is easier to keep straight than lies.

You should message me if

I would recommend that you message me if: You like to share your love of books, movies, music, and/or games. You enjoy idle debate on a variety of subjects. You congregate with your friends at local coffee houses and discuss whatever happens to come to mind. You take pleasure in sharing new things and activities to others. You believe that your own particular brand of psychosis and/or neurosis might possibly match up with mine.
