I used to be a college student at the university of Groningen, studying
astronomy. Since
after a mere 4 years I discovered there is little more boring than
astrophysics,
or to be more precise, the math that comes with it I decided to
work for a bit and find a more matching study to do after. That has
turned out to be Artificial Intelligence, which helps with my plans
for world domination.

What I'm doing with my life
The problem with these profiles is having to update them
frequently. Originally this said I was studying astrophysics, I
then switched it to working as a senior programmer for a small
dutch internet company (great fun really, making excessive amounts
of money for telling our development team how to produce
maintainable code).
Just recently however I started studying again, artificial intelligence to be more precise, and seeing how I am in my first year this means most of my time goes to my study at the moment. Hopefully in a few years this results in having a degree in cognitive sciences after which I plan to go abroad for a PhD. Ultimately my goal is to conduct research that will change the way we live as much as the computer or internet has. By enslaving humanity with my army of robots >:]

I'm really good at
I don't know about 'really', but there are several things I do
well. Playing the saxophone is one, programming is another. Physics
and math come quite easy for me, as well as sports and giving
massages :) Though if I had to name one thing I'm really good at,
it would probably be not-worrying about a thing.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
Difficult question, since I change my appearance rather frequently
and don't meet that many new people who tell me what they noticed
first.
Of course outside they usually notice the long black coath I wear, matching long blond hair and metal look. My favourite comment came from an associate who mentioned I looked like a wizard, or an uncle who noticed the resemblence to vikings. What with not having any recent pic's up of course you'll have to take his words for it :P

Favourite movies: Pulp Fiction, The Crow, Equilibrium, Chasing the sunset, The Boondock Saints, V for Vendetta, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, etc.
Favourite music: Metal, Gothic, Jazz, Punk, Ska. Especially melodic bands like Finntroll, Turisas, Korpiklaani, Nightwish and alike. For some reason I really prefer Finish melodic / folk metal, luckily there is an over abundance of that around!

1. My friends, without whom I'd be bored a lot more often.
2. Music, I tend to carry my MP3 player everywhere I go.
3. Being in love - or good sex if that fails.
4. Internet, both as a way of entertainment as well as being my workplace and the means to stay in touch with far off friends.
5. Good food, preferably some exotic recipe I can make myself.
6. Whisky, scotch, single islay malt by preference.

Nothing, basicly. One of the adventages of having a chaotic mind is
not having to bore yourself with 1 problem at the time for very
long :)
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually playing a game or two and being a couch potato. Though if
is meant where I am on a typical 'out' night, the answer is
generally first at home or at some friends place for dinner, drinks
and general carousing, then on to Cleopatra or de ster.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
After a few weeks I discovered my girlfriend was quite into BDSM.
Good thing too, turned out so was I. Got even more lucky when she
turned out to be bisexual too and has no objections against another
girl joining in!
