My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Rational thinker, conscientious environmentalist, outdoor enthusiast, food and beer know-it-all, admirer of thoughtful design, nascent world traveler, with a boat load of good stories and jokes.

I'm a paradox in many cases. I'm competitive, but easy-going. I'm passionate, but easily distracted. I'm disciplined, but spontaneous. I'm cautious, but willing to take risks. I'm a grown up, but I have the sense of humor of a 12 year old.

A few of my personal mantras are
1) Moderation in all things.
2) Cogito ergo sum.
3) Know thyself.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I work at LSU on honey bee toxicology. I moved here in the middle of January and I like it here a lot! I work a lot doing research, submitting grants, writing papers and making presentations. However, I always find time to relax and unwind. I'm pretty good at the whole life/work balance. I'm always looking for the next big thing is food and beer. I watch and play a lot of sports and try to stay active as possible.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I think I can make almost anyone laugh. Think of a monkey in a tutu riding a tricycle. See what I mean. I'm also pretty good at being observant of other people's behavior. I read body language quite well. Also, I do really good impressions of people's ticks and mannerisms. I can do pretty good impressions of some TV characters like Peter Griffin, any Sacha Baron Cohen character, and a bunch of others.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love making people laugh. I usually try to figure people out before I start making jokes so I know what I can get away with. I've been told I have nice arms too.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books- Almost anything non fiction. I read lots of biographies and text books. I find real life very fascinating. Some of my latest reads are "The Big Short" by Michael Lewis, "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell, and "God is not Great" by Christopher Hitchens, "Your Inner Fish" by Neil Shubin, "A Universe from Nothing; Why There is Something Rather than Nothing" by Lawrence Krauss, anything by Jean Twenge and Tucker Max.

Movies- I don't have a favorite genre or anything but here are my top five in no particular order. Also, this list is subject to change because top five is hard to define. Dumb and Dumber, Good Fellas, Wet Hot American Summer, T2, 300 and Jurassic Park.

TV- Yankees and NY Giants games, Top Chef, Always Sunny, Arrested Development, Chappelle's Show, Tosh, Storage Wars, Kenny vs Spenny, Summer Heights High, We Can Be Heroes, Angry Boys, Da Ali G Show, Archer, Portlandia, Breaking Bad, American Horror Story, Game of Thrones, Trailer Park Boys

I listen to all music except country. I'm really fond of 90s grunge and lots of EDM. Its all about the mood. Right now though the last few playlists I listened to were Skrillex, Deadmau5, Knife Party, Starting Line, Slayer, Every Time I Die,

Food, OMG I am so passionate about food. I don't have a favorite type or style, but I love eating good food. I would have so much more money if I wasn't so obsessed with food. I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the country from sandwich shops to formal, coat required establishments. My current food obsessions are authentic tacos, sandwiches topped with a fried egg, pork belly, sweetbreads, bone marrow, tongue, octopus, ceviche, and BBQ brisket. My last meal would be to eat fugu liver and describe the taste you can only experience once. That's how much I love food! I am also an accomplished home cook too. I make lots of different kinds of food in my kitchen from scratch. I am obsessed with the Ratio cookbook by Michael Ruhlman. Currently, I've been making lots of Indian food. My mutter paneer and chana masala are pretty awesome if I say so myself!

I know way too much about beer for someone outside of the brewing industry. I'm always on the lookout for the next big thing! I've been known to spend inordinate amounts of time and money hunting down the white whales of the beer world. My favorite beers are Lost Abbey-Angel's Share, Avery-The Beast, La Trappe-Oaked Quad, Southern Teir-Oaked Backburner, New Holland-Smaug's Breath. I can spend all day talking about and drinking beer! I even make my own. Sometimes its terrible (asparagus beer, coconut milk stout), then sometimes its insane like my Ice Bock.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good food
Good drinks
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I like thinking about how influential chance and circumstance are to determining how my life has turned out. I try to be as organized and disciplined as possible but its funny how much is out of my control. I always like to think about how something you might have thought of as inconsequential is actually extremely influential. Because I think about this a lot, I try not to worry about all the small things and focus on major events that I can control.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I like to be with friends after a week in the lab. Whether its at a bar or at someones house, its fun just to laugh our asses off and have fun. I really like the weekends when I leave town to visit friends or go fishing or hiking. Other times though, I just like to sit in and watch a movie or read and just detach from reality for a little.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I cry at the National Anthem at sporting events.

I want to find other people here in Baton Rouge so I can make my time here more enjoyable. There is so much to do around here but I want to do those things with someone. I am looking for someone to talk, laugh drink and eat with. You could say I'm looking for a good friendship. I just want to genuinely get to know someone.

Bring an outgoing personality, the ability to just be yourself and hold a conversation. If you like talking about different cultures, good food and drink, traveling, science, and other things that actually require thought with words of more than 4 syllables, then by all means get a hold of me.
